~ Weldar's first line upon seeing Banjo. |
Weldar is a minor villain in the videogame Banjo-Tooie. He serves as the boss in Grunty Industries. He's also known as the Visually-Impaired Welding Torch. He lives in the basement of Grunty Industries.
Appearance[]
Weldar greatly resembles a giant living, but worn out and damaged blowtorch. His neck and head resemble a snake (that is flexible and strong enough to drag his body to the area for the boss battle), and he has poor eyesight (common trait for most species of snakes) due to looking at his own flame.
Gameplay[]
At the beginning of the boss battle, it looks like it's going to be an easy battle because of his limited mobility. He attacks with fireballs, spitting out nuts & bolts, and able to jump rather high for something with "limited mobility." When he loses half of his hitpoints, he activates his emergency electric field. This makes the boss battle more difficult. In order to inflict damage on Weldar, Banjo must shoot Fire Eggs, Gernade Eggs, or Clockwork Kazooie Eggs into Weldar mouth while he's trying to suck Banjo and Kazooie in like a vacuum.
After losing all his hitpoints, Weldar explodes, and at the same time destroys the high voltage box, which shut off a fan that has a Jiggy behind it.

Trivia[]
- Much like Lord Woo Fak Fak, Weldar is still alive despite his body being destroyed.
- Besides Hag 1, Weldar is cited as the hardest boss in Banjo-Tooie. This also includes the difficulty in finding him, which is also greater than that of other bosses in other worlds.
- Despite his name, Weldar resembles a blow torch more than he does a welding torch.
- During one of his attack patterns, Weldar will say, "How about a few nuts 'n' bolts?". Nuts & Bolts is the title of the third Banjo-Kazooie game. It is unknown if this was an intentional reference.
