Enough! Just because I have a terrifying name and an evil English accent, does not preclude the fact that, in my heart, I am a Muppet, not a Moopet!
~ Uncle Deadly redeeming himself as he betrays Tex Richman.

Deadly (also known as Uncle Deadly) is a blue, dragon-like monster wearing a cape in The Muppet Show. Although he made his first appearance in the Vincent Price episode of the series, Uncle Deadly did not receive his proper introduction until the Twiggy episode.

He was performed and voiced by the late Jerry Nelson, and then by Matt Vogel since 2011.

Role[]

One by one, the Muppets tell Kermit that they have seen a phantom, but Kermit refuses to believe them until he sees Uncle Deadly with his own eyes. Uncle Deadly explains that he used to perform at the Muppet Theater, where he played Othello until he was killed by the critics.

In the 2011 film The Muppets, he returns as Tex Richman's assistant, and also as one of the two secondary antagonists before redeeming himself.

He also returns for the sequel, Muppets Most Wanted, along with Bobo. In this appearance, he is seen sitting at a piano memorizing the lyrics on the sheet of paper in front of him. He also appears in the gulag finale at the end of the movie.

He also appeared in the 2015 Muppets TV show.

Trivia[]

  • According to Jerry Nelson, Uncle Deadly was his tribute to the late John Carradine, who also portrayed Dracula in several 1940s horror films, after Bela Lugosi retired from the part.
