The Scarab

Type-47 Ultra Heavy Assault Platform aka Scarab

The Type-47 Ultra Heavy Assault Platform (Scarab) is a Covenant mobile mining platform adapted for use in combat. It can serve as an Heavy Assault Vehicle, Mobile Command Post or a Mining Platform. It is armed with a powerful Main Cannon, Anti Aircraft Turrets and three Type-52 Directed Energy Support Weapons.

Usually, there is one commanding officer for the vehicle and numerous crewmen and security personnel for the defenses of the Scarab. In Halo 3, there is a Lekgolo controlling the Scarab.

In Halo 2, the Scarab is first seen in the mission: Outskirts. Then in Metropolisis, the Scarab is seen numerous times throughout the level and is finally confronted at the end where many Covenant forces are aboard. There are two Major Elites who control the Scarab and one Ultra Elite that serves as the commanding officer where Jackals, Elites and Grunts serve as security personnel. When the player kills all enemies, the Scarab is destroyed.

In finally appears in The Great Journey, where Sergeant Major Avery J. Johnson uses it to help the Arbiter to reach Tarturas in the control room.

Halo 3

It first appears in The Storm where it arrives along with many Covenant forces to kill the UNSC. The player must get inside it and destroy the Legkolo in order to eliminate it. In The Ark, another Scarab appears where it's legs can be shot down by a Scorpion Tank. It finally appears in The Covenant, where two Scarabs drop down from the air in an attempt to protect the High Prophet of Truth. Although both Scarabs are eliminated. In Halo 3, usually Brute War Chieftains serves as the Scarab's commanding officers.

Halo Reach

Towards the end, a Scarab follows Noble Team in an attempt to prevent them from moving forward. When Noble Team reaches a certain point, the Scarab points it's main cannon at them although Carter rams his Pelican into the Scarab which kills Carter and destroys the Scarab.
