Tom J. Hanniger is the hidden true main antagonist in the 2009 3D slasher remake film My Bloody Valentine (also known as My Bloody Valentine 3D).
He was portrayed by hit television star and CW natural Jensen Ackles, who also portrays Dean Winchester.
Personality
In the beginning, he was nice and had a girlfriend until a year later on Valentine's Day, Warden wakes from his coma in the hospital and goes on a murderous rampage at the abandoned mineshaft where there is a party, attended by many teens including Axel Palmer, his girlfriend, Irene, Tom Hanniger and his girlfriend, Sarah.
Tom was initially reluctant to go to the mine party, but he goes anyway. He leaves Sarah and goes back to his car to pick up some beers before departing inside.
Sarah goes in alone and gets lost looking for Axel and Irene. She runs across a teen and a few seconds later he is stabbed through his eye.
She is confronted by Warden in full miner's garb, carrying a bloody pickaxe, and she flees, finding several dead bodies.
Axel grabs her and they, along with Irene, hide from the killer. Warden eventually sees the trio, and they run out of the mine, meeting Tom as he comes in. Warden hits Tom with the pickaxe, injuring him, while the other three run for the car.
Tom spots them, but Axel escapes with Sarah and Irene, abandoning Tom. Tom runs back into the mine in an attempt to escape Warden. Before Tom can be killed, the police arrive and shoot Warden who makes his getaway back into the mine. Tom also appears shocked by the events.
After 10 years, Tom came back home after his father's funeral to sell the mine, having vanished since the incident and it was unknown where he was since he was devastated by the events and unable to see Axel and Sarah after they had abandoned him in the mine to die.
So, during the movie, he was lying and told everybody that Harry Walden was the one who kill them until the end, it was him along since Harry died long time ago.
So, he went evil and crazy like Harry in the past.
Biography and Disappearance
In the remake he has been dead more than a following year and was the owner of the mines. Tom is seen trying to win back his former love interest, Sarah.
However, she now belongs to rival friend Axel Palmer. Tom was the serial killer dressed in the miner outfit and mask.
His motivation in the remake: Psychotic Breakdown from former confrontation with Harry Warden and inability to cope with the loss of fomer girlfriend.
In the 2009, we get to see the attack from Harry Warden that ended Tom and Sarah's meant to be relationship.
Tom as the killer actually survives the mine explosion kills a paramedic and assumes his costume to escape.
