The Behemoth is the final antagonist in the 2004 film, Hellboy.
Nature and Characteristics
Behemoth is one of 369 spawns of Ogdru Jahad that was introduced for the film series, making it the film exclusive Ogdru Hems. It had a gourd-shaped, worm-like body with numerous tentacles of unspecified number on each points, with lower tentacles are far larger than the ones on the head. Behemoth also had numerous pair of black eyes across its underbelly.
The tentacled "head" on the upper point however, encases actual, retractable head with two pairs of eyes and long tentacle-like tongue.
Ever since Rasputin pledged his servitude to Ogdru Jahad, Ogdru Jahad, whom turned him into their mortal agent, had the Behemoth residing within the mystic's body to keep an eye on him as well as acting as the mad mystic's "God". Behemoth's presence within Rasputin's body resulting his inability to die, as not only the mystic would eventually revived, but each resurrection would lead Behemoth to become stronger.
The Behemoth ultimately stepped in to deal with Hellboy and Meyers in the climax of the film when Rasputin reveals to have it within his body the entire time. It emerges from the stab wound in Rasputin's body and grows to gigantic size, whereupon it crushes Rasputin and Ilsa as punishment for their failure in manipulating Hellboy to free its parents. Hellboy and gang have a tough time grappling it at first, but Hellboy manages to destroy it by forcing himself to get eaten and detonates a belt of grenades, causing it to blow up from the inside.
- The Behemoth is similar to Keizer Ghidorah, as they are both giant monsters who appear near the very end of their respective films, and serve as the final antagonist after the main antagonist was killed (Rasputin and Controller X). Also, both their films (Hellboy and Godzilla: Final Wars) came out in 2004.
- The Behemoth's appearance slightly resembles Biollante, another Godzilla villain.
- When one looked closely on Rasputin's head during his conversation with Trevor Bruttenholm, Behemoth's presence within Rasputin can be noticed when it moves its tentacles under Rasputin's skin.
