Ah, Kyle's 'good' student. You're too late. Soon, Marka Ragnos will return and obliterate the Jedi. The Sith shall rule again!
~ Tavion

Tavion is the secondary antagonist of the Star Wars: Dark Forces series.

She initially served as a major antagonist in Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast as the Dark Jedi apprentice of Desann, before returning as the main antagonist in Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Biography[]

In Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast, Tavion first appears when Kyle encounters Desann during a battle between the Rebels and Imperial troops on Artus Prime in the Outer Rim Territories. Kyle finds that Tavion has captured Jan Ors, Kyle's mission partner and secret love. At the time, Kyle had already given up his lightsaber and his will to use the Force. As a result, Desann easily defeated Kyle, and he and Tavion pretended to kill Jan. They left Kyle, who was in grief and despair thinking he had lost Jan.

After Kyle began to regain his Force powers in search of the Valley of the Jedi, he found Tavion at Cloud City on Bespin. She taunted him, saying that she had killed Jan only to lead Kyle to the Valley of the Jedi, which was Desann's real plot to start a new force of warriors called the Reborn. Kyle and Tavion duelled intensely, and once Tavion realized she was no match for Kyle's superior fighting skills, she begged for mercy, and finally admitted that she faked Jan's death. Kyle left Tavion in search of Desann. Tavion fled, and afterwards Kyle had killed Desann at Yavin.

In Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Tavion returns as the leader of the Sith Cult, the Disciples of Ragnos. Tavion stole the Scepter of Ragnos, a powerful dark side artifact containing enormous amounts of Force energy. It could be used to blast energy against the enemy. Inside the scepter was the sword of Ragnos. Jedi Knight Jaden Korr came to stop her, and Tavion used the scepter and her own lightsaber to defend herself. When Tavion realized she could not defeat the Jedi, she caused the Force ghost of Marka Raknos to come out of the large statue in the room. The ghost overtook Tavion's body, and used his long-lost sword inside the powerful scepter to try and hold back the Jedi. When he failed, Tavion could not withstand the corruption of the ghost, and she died. Ragnos then was imprisoned in his tomb again, but not dead.

However, in the dark side alternate ending of Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Jaden kills Tavion without mercy and takes the scepter to have it and its power for himself, opting to just flee with it rather than resurrect Ragnos after defeating his former master, Kyle Katarn, in a lightsaber duel after killing Rosh.

Personality[]

Tavion was a rather condescending, haughty, conceited, provocative dark Jedi. She was loyal to her master, Desann, and she was contemptuous against the Jedi and very fond of bragging the actions of her or her master's. However, during her defeat against Kyla Katarn, it was revealed that she was afraid of death and cowardly begged her opponent to spare her life, while she was never merciful to anyone. In the years that followed, Tavion became more manipulative and cold, but her arrogance and disdain for the Jedi remained. At the same time, she couldn't get over her defeat, she felt a lot of shame and hatred, and when someone mentioned the past to her, she showed a very angry, upset and ashamed behavior. At the same time, she either conquered the fear of death or gave in, because in the final fight against Jaden, she refused to surrender or ask for mercy from her opponent, but fought to the end and chose death rather than another shame.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Force-sensitive physiology: Although the Force exists in all living things, only some are able to understand it and use the energy field to exhibit many abilities. Tavion Axmis possessed a strong connection to the force because of her midi-chlorian count.
  • Force-Augmentation: Tavion can use the Force to augment her physicals to varying superhuman levels. For instance, she can match the strength of Kyle Katarn and Jaden Korr. She can use the force to augment her muscles in order to run at blinding speed. With this ability, she can see most things in slow-motion, even blaster bolts which are much faster than bullets/slugs. She can use this ability to take out entire armies of troopers with ease before they can react. She can also use the force to leap far higher then the greatest athlete; easily jumping dozens of feet without issue. In the video-games, Tavion is able to leap eight times higher than peak-humans such as Boba Fett with ease. Things which would cripple or kill a non Force-sensitive only cause minor discomfort to Tavion.
  • Telekinesis: With the Force, Tavion can manipulate objects as well as attack opponents in many ways. She can easily lift grown adults off the ground with telekinesis and force-choke them. She also is familiar with force-lightning and can disintegrate normal humans.
  • Tutaminus: She can absorb energy and redirect it at will. She can absorb blaster bolts with her bare hands.
  • Force-Healing: Tavion can heal from minor to moderate injuries. She cannot heal missing limbs or organs. She can also detoxify her body of poison and illnesses.
