The Spider Master is a villain in the video game Spellforce: The Order of Dawn and its sequel Spellforce: Shadow of the Phoenix.
Taking the form of an older human, the Spider Master is in truth an ancient being that feasts on human flesh, particularly children. Its true form is that of a ghost spider.
History[]
The Order of Dawn[]
The Spider Master lives in in isolation somewhere on Wildland Pass. Not having been seen for decades, the Spider Master is considered to be a figure from legends which is used to frighten children. However, the Spider Master proves to be quite reals and, after the war drives him to abandon his cave on the Pass, starts preying on the children of the village Skye, eventually kidnapping and devouring the daughter of Markwart Storme.
When the Rune Warrior arrives at Wildland Pass to eliminate the remainders of the Black Fist, he travels through Skye where Storme begs him to kill the Spider Master to avenge his daughter. The Rune Warrior finds the Spider Master at a cave south of Skye, where the man cryptically claims that he looks healthy. The seemingly frail man also claims that the people of Skye are shunning him merely because he can talk to spiders. He also reveals to the Rune Warrior that he has left his cave on the Pass because one of the Black Fist Orcs, Warg, has stolen his flute. He asks the Rune Warrior to bring him back his flute, which the Rune Warrior accepts. In turn, the Spider Master sends a horde of Spiders which assist the Rune Warrior in smashing the first Black Fist force guarding the fords.
After returning the flute to the Spider Master, the Rune Warrior confronts him about the daughter of Markwart. The Spider Master implies that he ate the girl and the Rune Warrior then has the choice between avenging the girl or leaving the Spider Master to continue his practices of cannibalism. Canonically, the Rune Warrior claims that the Spider Master will not harm any human anymore, causing the Spider Master to summon some of his spiders to assist him in battle. Despite this, he is killed by the Rune Warrior.
Shadow of the Phoenix[]
In Shadow of the Phoenix, the Spider Master returns, having used his powers to resurrect as a ghostly spider. He is allied with the Emperor of Xu, Magnus Arias.
