Even in my former life I was never brought to anger like I am now.
~ Sen
I am the world's foremost thespian. I am the great Ryo!
~ Ryo

Sen & Ryo (Sen ryō (千両) and Man ryō (万両) in the Japanese version respectively) are minor antagonists in the video game Ōkamiden, the sequel to Ōkami.

Biography[]

Both Sen and Ryo are demons that are interested in human souls, and are minions of King Fury. Both Sen and Ryo were once humans who had dreams of being well-known in the actor field, but their dreams were never fulfilled. When they died, they both become demons, due to them being resentful. They later took over and resided at the Playhouse.

When Chibi started to meddle in their affairs, Sen and Ryo fight Chibi and Kagu. After the fight, they both faded away and were later fused into Yami.

Boss Battle: Sen[]

Sen is the first one to fight Chibi and Kagu. Sen fights in a giant puppet known as Renjishi. This puppet uses can use its fists, using wind based attacks, and throwing cogs. After it gets stunned, Chibi slashes at its weaks spots; glowing areas that appear randomly. This causes Sen to fade away, and force Ryo to fight Chibi.

Boss Battle: Ryo[]

After Sen is defeated by Chibi, Ryo takes over in the Renjishi puppet. He preforms the same cog attack as what Sen did beforehand, as well as a web attack which can temporary trap Chibi. After Renjishi loses half his health, Ryo grabs Kagu and places her on his shoulder. He warns Chibi that if he tries to slash Renjishi's weak point it could kill Kagu. So Chibi decided not to hit the weak point, instead Chibi found another weak point, Renjishi's palms. After he's stunned, Chibi rescues Kagu. After aiming at the weakest spots, Ryo disappears.

Boss Battle: Sen & Ryo[]

Despite both Sen and Ryo being defeated by Chibi and Kagu, both Sen and Ryo reappear, reveal their ultimate puppet, and fuse with their puppet. Just when they are about to kill Kagu, Chibi intercepts the attack barely hanging on. With this act of kindness, Kagu unleashes her true powers. With Kagu's new powers, both her and Chibi are able defeat Sen and Ryo. Kagu then proceeded to perform the dance of exorcism, which purified Sen & Ryo's ultimate puppet, and killing Sen and Ryo. Before they died, they asked someone called King Fury to forgive them.

Appearance[]

Sen[]

Sen resembles a large bird, presumably a crane. He has red markings on his face, most likely kumadori. He wears a orange kimono with a purple and gold colored obi. The sleeves of his kimono merge into his golden wings. Sen has geisha-styled (nihongami) purple and red striped hair stylized into two buns, with green and orange bead kanzashi.

Ryo[]

Ryo is a giant turtle with red markings going from his face to the back of his neck, and dark green spots all over this body. He wears a dark gray robe with purple accents and a wind/cloud-like pattern, as well as hakama pants. The red rope located on his shoulders might be how he carries his shell.

Renjishi[]

Renjishi is a gigantic mechanical doll that can be operated by either Sen or Ryo (has two forms depending on who is operating it), or can be operated by both of them when it is fused together with a lizard mask. It resembles a traditional Kabuki actor. It wears a white robe with a gold lining, a hexagon patterned gold and purple robe on its shoulders, and a red robe wrapped around its body. It wears a red puffy kabuki wig, and has a white face with kumadori markings.

When Ryo operates the Renjishi doll, it has a white puffy wig, a red robe, and a white rope wrapped around its body. When it is fused with the lizard mask, the doll has a alternating color scheme of both white and red on the wig, robe, and rope.

Trivia[]

  • Sen's appearance is most likely based on Onnagata, the term in where male actors play as females in kabuki theatre.
  • Both Sen and Ryo's Japanese names refer to old Japanese currency units.
