Sailor Chi and Sailor Phi are the secondary antagonists of the Sailor Moon Stars arc of the manga Sailor Moon and of its movie adaptation Sailor Moon Cosmos. Chi and Phi are twin sisters and two of Galaxia's most loyal minions and share the position of second in command of her organization, called Shadow Galactica.

Sailor Chi was voiced by Yuka Komatsu and Sailor Phi was voiced by Fumie Mizusawa in Japanese.

Sailor Chi[]

Sailor Chi has light green hair tied up in a conical shaped bun with a yellow fringe with one side cascading far down her body and dark red-brown eyes. She has a red-brown full body suit with flared trousers and a strap top. In the black and white manga, the suit appears white. There is a thick belt around her waist with sun-shaped brown jewels either side. She has matching heeled boots, a sailor collar with black stripes along the rim and a choker with a jewel similar to the ones on her belt - though it is square shaped. She further has similar gems for her earrings and decorating her bun.

Sailor Chi's hair comes down in one long strand across her face. She wears a lighter outfit than Phi with pants and a top that covers midriff. She wears a Galactica Bracelets and wields a golden staff.

Sailor Phi[]

Sailor Phi has light green hair tied up in a conical shaped bun with a yellow fringe with short yellow curls above her forehead and long strands of hair that emerge from her bun. She also has dark green eyes that match the green colour of her outfit. In the black and white manga, her outfit is black. Her accessories on her: headpiece, choker and earrings. They both have two pairs of the sun shaped jewels on them. Her skirt is long with slits down either leg and the ends are jagged. The lining of the skirt is a dark mustard yellow. She wears green heeled sandals with two straps that have white jewels along them and a brown jewel at the centre.

Sailor Phi's hair comes down in two long strands in the back, and wears a darker outfit with pants,a top showing her midriff and a Galactica Bracelets. She wields a golden staff.

Biography[]

Sailor Chi and Sailor Phi are in charge of the Animamates - though they are not Animamates themselves - and are the messengers of Galaxia, keeping her informed as to the progress and performance of the Animamates. They are called the "Star Gardeners" because they guard the Star Garden just outside of Galaxia's palace, where they cultivate the Sailor crystals they have collected.

Phi appears first in Act 45, Volume 16 to report Aluminum Seiren's failure to Galaxia. Chi appears later with Phi in Act 48, Volume 17. The two call Lethe and Mnemosyne useless, and then kill them. Phi then raises her staff to attack Eternal Sailor Moon, but ChibiChibi raises her own staff to shield her. Chi raises her own staff, and the unconscious Starlights' Sailor Crytals are exposed and taken, killing them.

In Act 49, Volume 18, at Galaxia Palace, Chi and Phi kneel before Galaxia and show her the Sailor Crystals of Lethe, Mnemosyne, and the Starlights. The five Crystals float into the larger Garden Crystal, where she has collected all of the Sailor Crystals thus far. She then combines the power of the Garden Crystal with her own Sapher Crystal to become more powerful. Later, just before the senshi reach the Galaxia Palace, they are confronted by Chi and Phi. The two attempt to destroy the senshi, but Princess Kakyuu transforms into Sailor Kakyuu to prevent this from happening. Phi uses her "Galactica Plants Blizzard" attack, but Eternal Sailor Moon counters with "Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss" and kills her. An angry Chi in turn kills Sailor Kakyuu by stabbing her through the heart. Eternal Sailor Moon then kills Chi.

Trivia[]

  • Sailor Chi is often called Sailor X because the Greek letter "Chi" is an X. However, "Sailor X" is considered a fanfiction character, and Chi should never be called Sailor X unless the Greek character of "Chi" is understood.
  • They are among the few major Sailor Moon villains to be omitted from the 90's anime.
