Queen Scarlet was the queen of the SkyWings and a villainess in the book Wings of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy. She was very vicious, having put the dragonets in arena matches to fight to the death for her amusement. She is the mother of Vermillion and Ruby. She is the main villain of The Dragonet Prophecy.

Queen Scarlet of the SkyWings

The Dragonet Prophecy

After first escaping from their cave prison, the dragonets Clay and Tsunami ran into Queen Scarlet while trying to go back to the caves to find the others. They seemed afraid of her, and eventually Tsunami had to stab her through the tail with a sword to get away from her. However, she came back with an army of SkyWings and kidnapped all five dragonets, forcing their SeaWing minder, Webs, to flee, their SandWing, Dune, killed by the queen, and their SkyWing minder, Kestrel, to be kidnapped along with them.

Clay, Tsunami, Glory, Sunny, Starflight and Kestrel are now prisoners of Queen Scarlet. She imprisons three of the dragonets (Clay, Tsunami and Starflight), on pillars (which they are chained to), and orders their wings to be clamped. She keeps Glory on a tree and calls her "art", because of her colour-shifting scales, and keeps Sunny in a cage, intending to give her as a gift to Queen Burn, whom Scarlet has allied herself and the Sky Kingdom with in the Great War.

Scarlet makes Clay fight the IceWing prisoner Fjord to the death, but after Tsunami distracts him, he is killed by Glory with her venom, though Clay thought Scarlet killed him. Scarlet puts Kestrel on trial for betraying her, revealing that she is the mother of Scarlet's champion, Peril, who convinces Scarlet to give Kestrel a trial by combat. Later, after Burn arrived, Scarlet made Tsunami fight Gill, a SeaWing who she dehydrated into insanity for his refusal to fight (and Tsunami's father, though neither knew this), and Tsunami was forced to kill Gill, imagining she was snapping Scarlet's neck instead. After unsuccessfully trying to make Tsunami fight Starflight, she sent scavengers after them, and later IceWings, to which Morrowseer arrived, killed the IceWings, and saved only Starflight. Scarlet made Clay fight Peril for Kestrel's trial, but then Glory shot venom at Burn, who used Scarlet as a shield, and the venom supposedly killed Scarlet while the dragonets escaped.

The Hidden Kingdom

However, Scarlet was later revealed to still be alive, contacting Glory in her dreams through a dreamvisitor and asking her to release her, as she is currently imprisoned. Glory refuses.

She is eventually killed by her daughter, Tourmaline, who snaps her neck after a fierce battle.
