Pontius Pilate is a minor antagonist from the 1965 film The Greatest Story Ever Told.
This version of Pilate was a gruff strongman who ruled Judea with an iron fist. The high priests brought a young preacher named Jesus Christ to him. Pilate would have rather executed Barabbas, but he was not all that sympathetic towards Christ.
In the film as Christ was being led away a narrator underscored the role of Pilate by repeating the words of the Nicene creed, "suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried."
