Its four in the f**king morning...No its not, its fu**king Sunday. And I have to go to f**king work in four f**king hours because every other f**ker in my f**king apartment is f**king ill. NOW CAN YOU SEE WHY I AM SO F**KING ANGRY?!?
~ Pete's final rant to Shaun and Ed.

Pete is the secondary antagonist of Shaun of the Dead. He is the arrogant, obnoxious, pompous, unsympathetic, verbally-abusive and spiteful flat-mate of Shaun and Ed.

He is portrayed by Peter Serafinowicz.

He keeps yelling at them about trivial things such as the door being left open at night. He is a businessman and he thinks himself much better and superior than Ed and even Shaun, who has a computer salesman job.

Pete tries to be polite to Ed, despite hating him, but finally he snaps, during his infection by the virus after being bitten by a zombie, he yells at Ed that he is a complete loser, and to "go and live in the shed like an animal." He tells Shaun to stop defending Ed and, "I assume it was Liz who did the dumping. SORT YOUR F**KING LIFE OUT MATE!"

In a great scene, when Shaun and Ed come in drunk (a spoof on how zombies act) to their apartment at two in the morning and begin dancing and partying Pete comes stomping in, breaks the record, and yells at them both for disturbing his night. He tells them that he has work in four hours and it is Sunday, when they mistake it for Saturday.

The next morning, Pete is nowhere to be seen. Shaun and Ed look for him but fear going up to him because he might be a zombie and he might still be angry. Unfortunately, it turns out to be true, and a shocked Shaun sees a completely naked, zombie Pete in the shower, who moans and stumbles out to kill him when he sees him. Shaun, in a spoof of Evil Dead, tells Pete he is welcome to "join us" at the pub later. Pete does break in to the Winchester pub, joining them, at the head of a zombie horde, but after biting Ed and abusing him once more, Shaun has enough and yells "I SAID LEAVE HIM ALONE!" He shoots Pete in the head with his gun, killing him.

  • Pete could be seen as a reference to Vivian from Dawn of the Dead as Shaun of the Dead is a spoof of Dawn of the Dead, hence the name. Pete has a very similar role to Vivian in the film as he is a neighbour of Shaun's who acts arrogant and gets infected, hunting the protagonists. There is another character however in Shaun of the Dead who could be a reference to Vivian and this is the football kid, who also gets infected.
  • Like all the other characters in the film, Pete is oblivious to the zombie uprising, as he derides the zombies as "crackheads."
  • Because of the high amount of swearing Pete uses in his final scene as a human, there was a remake of the scene Simon Pegg did, called "Funky Pete." In it, Pete's swearing is replaced with "Funky."
