Patronius was a royal advisor to King Jason in Corinth. He had designs on the throne and was thrilled when Jason announced his marriage to the commoner, Alcmene, as it meant the king would have to abdicate. However, Jason discovered that if he chose and crowned a new successor before the next full moon, he could save the kingdom from Patronius' rule. Patronius, determined not to allow this to happen, made a deal with Hera's Blue Priest. They would try to kill both Jason and Hercules at the wedding ceremony before Jason could crown his successor. Their plans failed when Hercules and the Argonauts were able to defeat the mercenaries hired to attack the wedding party. One of these mercenaries accidentally killed Patronius in the battle.
