The Overwatch Elite are supporting antagonists in Half-Life 2.
History[]
The Overwatch Elite is an organization of highly trained and modified soldiers who serve as high ranking members of The Combine's Transhuman military, the Combine Overwatch. They are intended to terminate serious threats in City 17 such as Gordon Freeman. Some of them serve as bodyguards of Wallace Breen. Compared to the Overwatch Soldiers, the Overwatch Elite are stronger and possess higher accuracy.
Appearance[]
Every soldier is covered from head to toe in white body armor, with thicker armor plating and a larger neck guard which increases the protection it offers. They wear black boots which cover most of their legs. In addition, they wear dark gloves. A patch of their insignia is located on their biceps. Compared to Overwatch Soldiers, the Overwatch Elite wear different helmets. For example, their breathing apparatuses are smaller. The most distinct feature of the helmet is the red single-eyed circular lens, which possibly improves eyesight and even senses, indicated by the two miniature domes located where the ears of the soldier would be.
Their main weapon of choice is the AR2 pulse rifle. This is an advanced, pulse-powered assault rifle and features an automatic reload mechanism built into the weapon from the box magazine. It also has a dark energy ball shooter built into it which allows it to charge up and launch balls/spheres of solid dark energy which is capable of disintegrating almost anything it touches, this secondary mode of fire is special because it is only allowed to be used by Overwatch Elite. They are said to use this advantage without hesitation and with deadly accuracy.

Wallace Breen[]
Doctor Wallace Breen is the commander of the Overwatch Elite and keeps them employed as his personal bodyguards and enforcers.
Shotgun Soldiers[]
Shotgun Soldiers bare the Overwatch Elite insignia on their shoulder pads. Given how they aren't as common as Overwatch Soldiers, it's likely that they are part of a sub-branch of the Overwatch Elite and occasionally serve as squad leaders.
Combine Overwatch[]
Overwatch Elite usually serve similar duties to that of the regular Transhuman infantry. However, as commanding soldiers in the Combine Overwatch, they are often the ones leading squads of Overwatch Soldiers into battle, especially once the Uprising begins.
