Oragami Man

Origami Man is a Robot Master created by Dr. Wily, which was soon scrapped due to his sole ability to transform into origami. Origami Man only appeared in the Short Circuits mini-comic from Issue 17 of Archie Comics' comic book series Mega Man.

History and Traits

Like Dr. Wily's other evil robots, Origami Man created as shape-shifting robot whom capable to transform into various origami forms. True to his name, the robot had origami-based armor plates on his body. Unfortunately, during the test, Dr. Wily realized that the robot is ill-prepared for following his evil biddings as the robot's origami form proved to be harmless (and may also vulnerable) and that the robot may not stand a chance against the heroes or authorities, so the robot ultimately scrapped in favor of more dangerous and competent Robot Master models.

Trivia

  • In the second issue of the comic, Mega Man asks Dr. Light why he couldn't "make Origami Man or Pillow Man" when he is going to fight against Bomb Man.
  • Origami Man may be inspired by the recurring joke of a paper-themed robot master creating a cycle, thus creating "Rock" (Rockman, Mega Man's original name in Japan, and also Guts Man), "Paper", and "Scissors" (Cut Man).
