AK-47, the very best there is. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every motherf***er in the room, accept no substitutes.

Ordell Robbie is the main antagonist of the 1992 novel Rum Punch and its 1997 film adaptation Jackie Brown. He is a notorious and ruthless black-market runner.

He was portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, who also played Gator Purify in Jungle Fever, Greg Meeker in White Sands, Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction, Carl Lee Hailey in A Time to Kill, Elijah Price in Unbreakable and Glass, Frank Tenpenny in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Roland Cox in Jumper, Officer Abel Turner in Lakeview Terrace, Octopus in The Spirit, Stephen in Django Unchained, Chaney in Oldboy, Richmond Valentine in Kingsman: The Secret Service, Major Marquis Warren in The Hateful Eight, Mr. Barron in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Preston Packard in Kong: Skull Island and Marcus Banks in Spiral: From the Book of Saw.

Biography[]

Ordell Robbie is a Los Angeles black-market gun runner and drug dealer. He is friends with ex-con Louis Gara and has flight attendant Jackie Brown work for him. Jackie has to smuggle money from Mexico to the United States for Ordell.

At some point, Ordell learns that his fellow employee Beaumont Livingston has been arrested by the police. He fears that Beaumont may become an informant in order to avoid jail time, so Ordell arranges his bail with bondsman Max Cherry. Upon Beaumont's release, Ordell lures him out of hiding and murders him.

Jackie Brown then gets caught by the law, so he works up a scheme to smuggle the money past security, but he ends up getting scammed by Jackie so that Louie turns up with only a quarter of the money. Louie also killed Ordell's female roommate Melanie because she annoyed him. When Ordell learns about the situation, he gets into an argument with Louis about it and ends up killing him in a fit of rage; Ordell subsequently becomes wanted by the authorities when they learn about the murders of Louis and Melanie respectively.

He plans to meet Robert and murder him since he knows he was involved in Jackie's scheme, but the police were ready for him. Ordell goes over to Robert's place and attempts to murder Jackie Brown, but is shot dead by police detective Ray Nicolette.

Personality[]

Robbie is a very dangerous, ruthless, sometimes psychotic and manipulative person who enjoys being with his girl Melanie (before she died), and to gain his trades. He does not hesitate to kill those whom he feels betrayed by. There are times in the film where he shows small amounts of sympathy and forgiveness (albeit often for the wrong reasons), which include Ordell forgiving Louie for the latter having sex with Melanie, and even Louie killing Melanie later in the movie.

Ordell is a very powerful and headstrong individual, qualities that make Jackie Brown fear him and arm herself. Ordell's greed is one of his most prominent traits, as he cared very little for Melanie being killed, and also killed his own friend Louie; both events being fueled by Ordell's obsession with the money he planned to get from his scheme.

Quotes[]

Now that there is the Tec-9, a crappy spray gun from South Miami. This gun is advertised as the most popular gun in the American crime. Do you believe that sh-t? It actually says that in the little book that comes with it: the most popular gun in American crime. Like they're actually proud of that sh-t.
