The Neutrinos are the main antagonistic force in the film 2012. These Neutrinos come from deep in the Sun, and they can interact with matter, making them different, and more dangerous, than the regular Neutrinos. The Neutrinos first came from the Sun in 2009, and in 2010 they had settled inside the Earth. They immediately began heating up the Earth, over a long period of time, and the inside of the Earth began to get like a microwave because the Neutrinos were destabilizing it. The effects continued throughout 2010 and 2011, and in 2012 the Neutrinos reached their peak in December twenty-first, 2012, which coincided with many prophecies from the Mayan people and other groups. The Neutrinos were destabilizing the core, then the crust, of the Earth, causing minor earthquakes and other disturbances. Finally on December twenty-first, the Neutrinos reached their critical mass and wrenched open huge portions of the crust of the Earth, causing massive global earthquakes, and making some parts of certain continents fall into the sea or inside the core of the Earth.
The Neutrinos then over-reached critical mass and they caused deadly tsunami, much bigger than any other tsunami on Earth, and this destroyed much of humanity and flooded huge continents. Finally, after the disastrous time, the Neutrinos burned themselves out and thus posed no more threat to society.
It was implied that the Neutrinos had been visiting Earth every sixty million years, and were responsible for the mass extinctions, such as the one in the Cretaceous.
