Mrs. Lift, also known as Momma, was the main antagonist of Throw Momma from the Train. She was Owen's old mother who mistreated him and his friend Larry.
At the end of the film, it was revealed by Owen that she died from natural causes.
She was portrayed by Anne Ramsey.
Mrs Lift is an overbearing mean mother. She abuses her son Owen and treats him like a child and unaware that he is a grown up. She still punishes him as an adult. She bullies him around and treats him like dirt. Mostly Owen would do anything to get rid of her. Mostly she is feared that Owen have her taken away. She usually unsupported Owen being a writer. Mrs Lift did die, but natural causes and Owen is finally free from her. Larry Donner who is Owen's friend is also a writer and his teacher, who inspired by Owen's story, write his own murder mystery novel called "Throw Mamma from the Train". That was a best seller. Even Owen capitalize his own effort of writing his own book called "Momma, and Owen, and Owen's Friend", he showed Larry that it's a pop up children's book and both of them are best sellers.
She is overbearing, mean and evil. Sometimes she is unaware that Owen is an adult and still treats him like a child and continuing punishing him. She usually enjoys bullying him around and always feared that she would be taken away to a nursing home or an institutionlized.
- She was played by Anne Ramsey, who previously played another villain, Mama Fratelli from The Goonies.
