Mr. Edward Underwood is the adoptive father of Freddy Krueger whom he presumably took in at a young age when the boy's biological mother gave him up for adoption.
He was portrayed by singer-songwriter Alice Cooper.
A severe alcoholic, Underwood abused Freddy both verbally and physically, his preferred method of beating the boy apparently being whipping him with a belt.
Once he became a teenager, Freddy, fed up with his foster father's abuse, murdered the old man when he came home drunk one day, laughing off Underwood's blows before stabbing him in the eye with a straight razor, a memory which Freddy's daughter Maggie would later witness after entering her father's mind years later.
He is similar to Richard Detmer, The Father from Chronicle for the following reasons:
- Both are alcoholic fathers.
- Both physically and psychologically abused their sons, Freddy Krueger, and Andrew Detmer respectively.
- Their sons eventually retaliated to their abusive behavior, With Freddy successfully murdering his father, while Andrew failed.
- They are mainly the sole reasons for their son's Insanity, causing them to become terrifying villains in the end.
