Mr. Mxyzptlk is a major antagonist in Season 1 of the animated series My Adventures with Superman. He is a mischievous and powerful imp from the fifth dimension who possesses reality-altering abilities. Because of these abilities, he possesses vast knowledge of the multiverse, specifically when it comes to alternate versions of Clark Kent/Superman.
He also uses his ability to open portals to other dimensions to rob different worlds of their most valuable assets, often tricking and manipulating others into helping him.
While Jimmy and were Lois busy preparing for Lois and Clark's first date together, Mr. Mxyzptlk, an interdimensional being, pays Clark a visit. He urgently seeks Superman's help, being aware of Clark's identity as Superman due to his knowledge of the multiverse. Mxyzptlk claims that Lois is in grave danger, prompting Superman to don his suit and agree to assist. Together, they journey through an interdimensional portal.
Inside this portal, they end up in a room where Mxyzptlk's powers wane. Deceptively, he convinces Superman that Lois is on the other side of a sealed door. Superman opens it, only to be ambushed by a colossal robot. After defeating the robot and finding no sign of Lois, Superman realizes he was deceived. Mxyzptlk had never intended to save Lois; instead, he used Superman to steal valuable artifacts from the room. They're then thrown into another desolate dimension.
Meanwhile, Lois and Jimmy encounter alternate versions of Lois Lane from the League of Lois Lanes, who are on a mission to capture Mxyzptlk. The League had previously managed to disarm Mxyzptlk, but a mysterious portal allowed him to escape to Earth-12. They suspect Superman's involvement in Mxyzptlk's plans. Lois secretly partners with Mxyzptlk to explore the League's headquarters and uncover their secrets about Superman, discovering a keycard and a mysterious orb. The orb contains images of alternate Supermen, some of whom are evil, raising questions about Superman's nature.

Mr. Mxyzptlk is a master manipulator who enjoys toying with the emotions and intellect of those he encounters. He orchestrates intricate scenarios designed to test the limits of his victims' resourcefulness, often leading them down convoluted paths. His actions are characterized by whimsy and unpredictability. He has an affinity for spontaneously altering reality and bending the laws of physics to his amusement. This unpredictability keeps his adversaries, especially Superman, on their toes, never knowing what bizarre challenge he will present next. He also has apparent kleptomania, characterized by his compulsion to steal items that pique his interest. He accumulates a collection of souvenirs from the various dimensions he visits, often using his charisma and charm to trick others into helping him steal, then passing them off and discarding them as scapegoats.

Levitation: Mr. Mxyzptlk demonstrates the extraordinary capability to hover effortlessly in midair, transcending the confines of gravity.
Reality Warping: Similar to his comic book counterpart, Mr. Mxyzptlk wields godlike powers of reality manipulation, allowing him to reshape the world to his whims. These abilities are virtually boundless, limited primarily by the absence of his "bowler hat," which typically acts as a potent amplifier. When without this hat, he retains significant reality-warping power but is notably less formidable and susceptible to opposition, even from Superman.
