Molgera is a major antagonist in the 2002 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
It is a giant, worm-like monster and the leader of the Molgera larvae, who was tasked with both killing Fado the Wind Sage and guarding the Wind Temple by Ganondorf.
Biography[]
Past[]
After Ganondorf broke free from the Sacred Realm, he sent out monsters to kill the remaining Sages in order to drain the Master Sword's power and leave himself invincible. One such monster was Molgera, a giant, worm-like creature that Ganondorf sent to the Wind Temple. There, Molgera killed the Wind Sage, Fado, and remained there to keep the power of the Sage sealed within the temple.
The Wind Waker[]
Many years later, Link and the new Wind Sage, Makar, arrive at the Wind Temple to restore the Master Sword's power and defeat Ganondorf.
After arriving at a large, sand-filled room, Link is separated from Makar and encounters Molgera. Molgera proceeds to attack Link by attempting to eat him and sending its larvae to damage him. After enough hits, Molgera will begin burrowing through the sand and flying around the room to catch Link off-guard. Eventually, Molgera is defeated, freeing Fado's spirit and allowing Link and Makar to return the Master Sword to its former glory.
Trivia[]
- A similar-looking boss known as Colgera appears in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Due to their similar designs, names, and behaviors during battle, many fans have speculated that Colgera is related to Molgera, or perhaps even a ice-themed member of the same species.
