|~ Maxwell Dent to Axel Foley|
Maxwell Dent is the main antagonist in the 1987 film Beverly Hills Cop II.
He is portrayed by Jürgen Prochnow.
Dent is a wealthy and highly corrupt businessman who seeks to claim insurance on one of his businesses after getting into debt, specifically by framing one of his associates and having them killed to erase any evidence of his scheme. However, a Detroit cop named Axel Foley comes to Beverly Hills and begins investigating Dent after Foley's friend Lieutenant Andrew Bogomil (who had also been investigating Dent) is shot and nearly killed. Dent tries to have Foley killed numerous times, yet to no avail, and Foley persists in his attempts to bring Dent and his henchmen to justice.
During the climax, Foley confronts Dent in a warehouse but is interrupted by one of his bodyguards. Dent uses this opportunity to escape and climbs into his car before driving straight into the warehouse, in a last ditch attempt to run Foley down. Foley sees this in time and shoots Dent through the windscreen, causing his car to crash down a slope and blast-ditches.
