Material A, also know by her original name Nia Honjou is a new spirit introduced in Date A Live franchise. Nia supposed is one of the most powerful weapons that is over control of Deus.Ex.Machina Industries and is considered to be the most powerful Spirit owned by DEM since Marina Arusu. Nia is also the Second Spirit, the only one who knows the whereabouts of the First Spirit.
Nia is a private Spirit imprisioned on Neryl Island by Isaac Ray Peram Westcott; the island that DEM owns on the Pacific Ocean, as well as the laboratory created underground.
In the year X, Nia was once an ordinary human. However, around 27–28 years ago, because of unknown reasons, she bonded with the Sephira Crystal containing Rasiel Angel, turning her into a Spirit. This also stopped her aging at around the age of 18–19 years old.
Around 10 years ago, Nia was able to gain a job as a Manga Artist under the pen name of Souji Honjou, causing people to believe she was male. The Manga written by her, "Silver Bullet", ended up being a hit and allows her to live a very rich life.
However, around 5 years ago, Nia's existence was discovered by DEM, whom send Ellen Mira Mathers after her and successfully defeated her. She managed to capture her alive by catching her by surprise through a sneak attack. Her fans, however, only knew that she had disappeared and it was believed to be because of an argument between her with her editor.
While in DEM's captivity, Nia was put through horrible experiments in order to make her go into her Inverse Form. However, her mind was able to subconciously seal off her body as well as suppress her own memories in order to prevent it from breaking.
The Special Natural Disaster Life-Form
5 years later, after Dark Origami's defeat and the form of New Timeline, Origami was never met Isaac Westcott. The New Timeline Westcott had not change his personality at all. Bored to have missed a great opportunity to get a Inverse Spirit, Westcott decided that he would make a call to Neryl Island to send his "strongest weapon" to Japan; to finally create the "perfect Inverse Form". Even Ellen Mira Mathers, the world's strongest wizard, was worried and felt uncomfortable about Westcott's decision.
The new Spirit that Westcott wanted to Inverse is none other than Nia herself, being a prisoner for five years and was brainwashed by a Realizer, so that her bad memories (all contained her misery in the DEM's torture chamber) was erased.
After the supreme order of Westcott have been given, the security of DEM took all providences to send the powerful Material A to Japan. The DEM placed up 300 DEM Wizards to protect the Material A. Even the pilots of the DEM's plane were shocked by the security provided by Isaac. However, Kurumi Tokisaki, the Spirits who was looking for the Second Spirit, attacked the huge battalion of Wizards in an attempt to capture the Second Spirit (in order to know the whereabouts of the First Spirit).
Despite the battle, the plane managed to escape after a bloody battle that took place between Kurumi and the new unknown Adeptus 2. Kurumi then was defeated.
While the plane was heading to Japan to deliver the Material A, something strange happened inside the plane that left the DEM pilots shocked by the spiritual wave that was coming from inside of the plane. The pilots found that the Material A was waking up, and brought down the plane in a snap.
After the crash, Kurumi was able to locate the plane, and finally was about to capture the Second Spirit, however, the material A was not there. It is soon revealed that Nia reacted to Shido's Spirit Wave upon him going berserk. Then, she woke from coma and caused turbulence. Seizing the chance, Nia escaped as soon as the plane was brought down.
