Marshmallow is a minor antagonist turned anti-hero in Disney's Frozen. He is the brutish personal bodyguard to Queen Elsa and fights off any trespassers. He is created by Elsa to fend off Anna and Kristoff and later fights off Hans' guards, who attempt to kill Elsa, but is defeated when Hans cuts off his leg, causing him to fall into the ravine below. At the end of the film, Marshmallow returns to the palace, finds Elsa's discarded tiara, and crowns himself king of the North Mountain.
He later appears at the end of Frozen Fever, where Olaf, Kristoff and Sven bring all the "snowgies" (tiny snowmen created from Elsa's sneezing) to the palace, much to his confusion. Kristoff simply tells him "Don't ask".
- Marshmallow is very similar to Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill franchise. They are both monstrous creations who are tasked in protecting their creator & master with brute force.
- In an original draft of Frozen, in which Elsa was still the planned main antagonist, originally depicts Marshmallow having minions of Snow Monsters & bearing a darker resemblance to Olaf with uprooted tree trunks for arms and lack of icicle spikes. Another early depiction portrayed Marshmallow as a polar bear instead of a giant snow monster.
- It is possible he was named after the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from the Ghostbusters franchise.
- Like Elsa, Marshmallow is considered an anti-villain/anti-hero. The goals he has are essentially good but the way he goes about them is not. His task is to protect Elsa, but he is very hostile while doing so.
