Maman is a major antagonist in the 2008 Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire, despite he only appeared in flashbacks.
He is portrayed by Ankur Vikal.
History
Maman is a gangster who abducts street children in order to make them beggars or prostitutes.
He first appears when he meets the young Jamal, Latika and Salim, and offers them a home in an orphanage. He tricks them into becoming beggars, and tries to recruit Salim. However, Salim discovers that Maman blinds children with acid in order to increase their revenue, so he decides to flee with Jamal and Latika but Maman manages to recapture Latika.
Years later, Maman tries to use Latika as a child prostitute and plans to sell her virginity to the highest bidder, but Jamal and Salim finally come to rescue her. After they find her, Maman attempts to intervene, however Salim threatens him with a gun. He forces Maman to give him some money, then he kills him.
