Mr. Lewis Teague
You son of a bitch, you moved the cemetery but you left the bodies, didn't you!? You son of a bitch! You left the bodies and you only moved the headstones!! You only moved the headstones!!!
~ Steve Freeling to Lewis Teague.

Mr. Lewis Teague, played by James Karen, was a minor character in the 1982 thriller movie Poltergeist. Although he was not exactly antagonistic towards the victims of the infamous haunting, he was indirectly responsible for their plight as he had lied to Steve Freeling about the relocation of the grave-site upon which he built several homes in Cuesta Verde, amongst them the future home of the Freeling family (who worked for him).

Lewis Teague had actually left the bodies and moved only the headstones, causing many spirits to become confused and lost - in the process he also awoke the demon known as Reverend Henry Kane (known at the time as "the Beast").

Mr. Teague's Fault

Steven blames his newly-ex boss Lewis Teague for him only moving the graveyard's headstones which became the Freeling Family's ultimate misfortune.

Lewis' crime is not revealed until the climax of the film when the spirits begin to attack the Freeling family by literally spewing out the remains of the cemetery beneath the house - prompting Steve to angrily yell at Lewis over what had transpired before he ran to save his family.
Lewis Teague in Shock

Lewis Teague discovers the truth behind his sacriligious actions as the Freeling family house collapses into nothingness.

Lewis was left in shock as he watched the house literally implode as the spirits took their final revenge by destroying the structure that had defiled their sacred site - though much of the surrounding community was also destroyed.
