Kazar is the main antagonist of Disney's 2006 CGI film, The Wild. He is an argumentative and merciless wildebeest who tries to ascend to the top of the food chain. His lieutenant, Blag, and the other wildebeests on the other hand, don't want to become predators, but Kazar threatens and abuses them. He is also the oppressive leader of the wildebeests. He also appears as Samson's arch-nemesis.
He was voiced by William Shatner, who also played James T. Kirk in the Star Trek frnachise and General Shanker.
Kazar is a very cruel, wicked, deceitful, opprobrious, uncompromising, manipulative, and traitorous wildebeest who no longer wants to dwell at the bottom of the food chain. He is somewhat insane and preposterous, so he actually wants to eat meat in order to ascend to the top of the food chain. One of his most diabolical and contemptuous plans is when he supposedly attempts to eat Samson and Ryan when they enter the volcano.
Role in the film
Kazar captures Nigel the Koala and reveals to him that a stuffed koala bear came out of the sky (actually from a plane) and scared the lionesses who cornered him away. Kazar therefore wants prey to become predator and vice versa. He then dubs Nigel as "The Great Him". When he hears that there are Lions nearby he orders his lieutenant Blag to bring them so they can eat them.
Kazar attempts to eat Samson and Ryan when they enter the volcano. Blag and the rest of the wildebeests (who don't really want to turn predators into prey) turn against him and refuse to help him. Enraged, Kazar tries to kill Samson and Ryan himself, but Samson roars a deafening roar, which causes the walls of the volcano to crumble. Kazar is then ditched by his own minions and left to perish in the volcano. Kazar is crushed by a falling rock after catching his front hooves on the plush koala's pull string, while the rest of the animals escape to safety before the destructive volcano explodes.
- Kazar's last words before meeting his demise: "Top of the food chain, Ma! Top of the food chain!" is a reference to James Cagney's character, Arthur "Cody" Jarrett's line from White Heat: "Top of the world, Ma! Top of the world!".
- Kazar is similar to Dawn Bellwether from Zootopia, another Disney film released a decade later.
- They both have a genocidal hatred towards predators and wish to kill them.
- They both are very insane, deceptive, and unscrupulous.
