John Clemens was an Earth Alliance pilot who was a Clark-Loyalist on Babylon 5 as the fith and final season's first antagonist who was attempting to assassinate the then-newly elected President of The Interstellar Alliance, John Sheridan.

Clemens was portrayed by Anthony Crivello.

History[]

EarthForce Service and role in the Earth Alliance Civil War[]

Clemens was trained in infiltration early in his career, and became a master of disguise. In addition he was a capable Starfury pilot. At some point prior to 2262 Clemens served with fellow Earthforce officer Elizabeth Lochley.

During the Earth Alliance Civil War Clemens held the rank of Major and was in charge of the prison system on the Beta 7 colony. Clemens was accused of the murder and torture of dissidents on Beta 7 and elsewhere. After the death of President Clark he became wanted and went underground in order to escape apprehension or worse.

Quest for Vengeance and Death[]

Blaming Sheridan for destroying his life, career and family and having nothing too lose, Clemens was determined to kill Sheridan during his swearing-in as President of the then newly founded Interstellar Alliance.

Feeling that in addition to killing Sheridan he had to send out a message, Clemens sent a manifesto via voice mail to Sheridan. Garibaldi was able to use this voice mail to identify Clemens and from there pulled up his EarthForce record.

Drawing from his experience as a trained infiltrator he disguised himself as a Gaim ambassador to attend the inauguration ceremony, but was prevented from shooting Sheridan by one of the rogue telepaths that had just arrived on the station. Despite being wounded on this first attempt he managed to steal one of the station's Starfuries and threatened to shoot Sheridan from space. He was finally stopped by Garibaldi who had snuck up on him with his own Starfury. Garibaldi pulled Clemens away from the station. Once clear Garibaldi released Clemens, and the station's weapons opened up on Clemens. Clemens died when his ship was destroyed.
