Barley is dismayed, yet Ravenpaw comforts him by saying that they were calling themselves Jumper and Hoot instead of Ice and Snake which ment that they were no longer part of BloodClan. On the second attack Hoot and Jumper are concerned in the end by the white dog, and cry for help, saying that Willie had lied to them and did north know that it was his farm. Barley jumps to save them, though he comments that they are very weak, yet they are his brothers. When the fight is over they ask if they can stay, saying that Willie will kill them if they go back to BloodClan. Even thought Barley is hesitant, he lets them stay, saying that he will talk to them more in the morning after he and Ravenpaw are dorne cleaningr. In the morning Ravenpaw offers to show Hoot and Jumper around while Barley takes a walk, thought Ravenpaw still finds out what he is in for. He discribes them as lazy, and how they want everything handed to them. After the tour Ravenpaw is exhausted so he takes a nap. The two brothers create a mess in the barn which Barley shows to Ravenpaw when he wakes up. They say that they were just trying to catch mice, and they need someone to show them how. Thought Ravenpaw says that he has been showing them all day, Hoot tells Barley that Ravenpaw made them collect herbs and supplies all day while he was sleeping. Barley belives them and later they go on a walk together. When they come back they order Ravenpaw to catch them dinner and they sleep in his nest all night. The next morning, they ask Ravenpaw to catch them some mice, and even thought Ravenpaw says that they should try it on thier own, they refuse, saying that he is the best at hunting. When Ravenpaw comes back they are getting yowled at by Barley who is furious by the way they are treating Ravenpaw, and tells them to get out. Suprised, the tell Barley that they are his kin. Barley says that blood does not always matter, but loyalty is the first thing that matters. At first they refuse to leave the barn, and say that they could take Barley down a second time. But Barley slashes them across the face. Realizing that they have lost the battle. They leave saying that they never wanted to say there anyway.
In BloodClan, Ice was first named Jumper when he was born, along with Barley,Hoot (Later Snake) and Violet. Their mother throughs him and his littermates out of her den at 12 moons old on the orders of Scourge, BloodClan's current leader, predicted by Barley, he and Hoot find Bone and try to become part of Scourge's guard. Both brothers admire strength and power, and want some. When Baley runs into them on patrol of Scourge's den, he notices their cold, hard eyes did not exist when they were just kits. They also were tooth studded collars. Jumper's name turns to Ice and Hoot's name turns to Snake. When Barley returns from metting Fuzz, Violet is caught living with Barley. Ice and Snake emerge from the darkness ready to kill her. When Barley asks to fight in her place, Scourge refuses, Ice and Snake stalk up to Violet while Barley is pinned down by Bone the BloodClan deputy and they attack her brutally, leaving her to die. They are last seen licking blood off her paws and disappering into the darkness.
