The Huntsman is the secondary antagonist in the 2000 film The 10th Kingdom.
He was portrayed by the late Rutger Hauer, who also portrayed John Ryder in The Hitcher, Roy Batty in Blade Runner, Morgan Edge in Smallville, Wulfgar in Nighthawks, Master Xehanort in Kingdom Hearts III, and Patrick Henry Roark in Sin City.
Biography[]
The Huntsman was the top henchman of Christine Lewis, Virginia's mother and main villain, and carried out a lot of her dirty work. With his deadly, magical crossbow (enchanted so that, when fired, its arrow will not stop until it hits the heart of a living being) he kills everyone at the gypsy camp in his woods, kills a member of Prince Wendell's council, and kills an elf gambler and steals his money.
He is summoned by Christine Lewis to hunt the heroes down and bring them to her after Wolf and the trolls fail in doing so. Through the encounters he has with the heroes, he fails to capture them until he forms an alliance with the troll kids. They capture the heroes but Virginia and Anthony escape.
Close to the end of the miniseries, he captures Virginia and Anthony and brings them to Christine Lewis. When Virginia slaps Christine, she orders The Huntsman to kill Virginia but Wolf stops him and gets into a fight with The Huntsman. The Huntsman fires his crossbow into the air and during the fight the arrow comes straight down and hits The Huntsman, killing him.
