Grishnakh is an antagonist in The Lord of the Rings.
He is portrayed by Stephen Ure.
Grishnákh is an Orc captain of Barad-dur in Mordor, under command of Sauron, and he hated Saruman with a passion. Grishnákh was sent by Sauron to capture Meriadoc and Peregrin and take them to Mordor. But he found that Uglúk, his rival Orc captain, had been sent by Saruman to take the hobbits to Isengard. Grishnákh was enraged at this and he set on trying to kill Ugluk and get the hobbits' possessions for himself.
When the Orcs got to the outposts of Fangorn Forest, Grishnákh began debating whether Ugluk could seriously lead this expedition. Grishnákh also professed faith in Sauron and said that he would sort out the traitor Saruman. Grishnákh was described as having a soft voice for an Orc, but full of more evil than the others.
Grishnákh was also very clever for an Orc; he guessed that the hobbits possessed a Ring, and when the Isengarders had been told nothing Sauron might have hinted to his captains what he was after.
Grishnákh had the hobbits taken out of camp to torture them for the Ring and tried to make off with the Ring, but was speared by a Rider as he tried to run out.
