The Giant Unattractive Monster is the main antagonist of the Futurama episode "Benderama". He is a huge, ugly monster who tries to destroy the Earth after the Planet Express crew repeatedly mocks his appearance and his mother.
He is voiced by Patton Oswalt, who also portrays Mr. Sparkles in Big Hero 6: The Series, Professor Dementor in the series and film Kim Possible, and TV's Son of TV's Frank in Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return and portrayed Bruce Scorpion in Keeping Up with the Joneses.
Overview[]
As his moniker suggests, he is a giant, unattractive monster, shunned for his appearance by the other inhabitants of his planet to the point that he is forced to live in a cave. He sees a therapist for his self-esteem and anger issues, and has learned to control both unless someone insults his beloved mother, whom he calls "mama" and is even uglier than him.
In "Benderama"[]
The Giant Unattractive Monster orders his regimen of hygiene products - a giant bottle of skin cleanser, a giant roll-on deodorant, and a regular-sized condom - from the Planet Express delivery company. When the Planet Express crew arrives to deliver the order, Bender Bending Rodríguez and his two clones, which he has recently created with one of Professor Farnsworth's latest inventions, start making fun of his appearance. The Giant Unattractive Monster takes Bender's insults in stride, admitting that many of Bender's remarks are true, and saying that he has learned in therapy to accept others' opinions of his appearance. When Phillip J. Fry that the Monster probably inherited his appearance from his mother, however, the Monster goes berserk, screaming, "Don't talk about my mama!", and attacks the crew, who flee in the Planet Express ship.
Later on, the Monster goes to the Planet Express headquarters to apologize, saying that he is learning to control his temper in order to be a better person. Unfortunately, however, the entire crew is so drunk following the creation of an ocean of alcohol by trillions of Bender's microscopic clones that they start ruthlessly mocking his appearance and odor, making him increasingly angry. After Zapp Brannigan drunkenly shoots him with a tank while insulting him, the Monster calls his therapist to help him calm down, but he gets her voicemail. He then loses his temper and starts destroying New New York, declaring that he will not stop his rampage until all of Earth is as ugly as others perceive him to be.
With help from his microscopic clones, Bender forms a giant replica of himself and fights the Monster. The Monster gets the upper hand by showing Bender a picture of his mother, which so appalls the giant robot that he recoils. The Monster once again screams, "Don;t talk about my mama!", and knocks the giant Bender to the ground, apparently killing him, the trillions of tiny clones that make up the giant clone engulf the Monster until they turn him into silver, glittering ash. Before he crumbles and blows away with the wind, the Monster rejoices that, at last, he is beautiful.
