You're boring. Die.
~ Genjuro Kibagami

Genjuro Kibagami is one of the main characters from the Samurai Shodown series.

Story

Genjuro had a poor infancy. He never knew his father, and his mother worked as a prostitute in order to sustain both of them. When he was 15, a drunken client started beating his mother, so Genjuro killed him. As he was leaving, his mother attacked him, leaving the scar on his back, so Genjuro defended himself and killed her as well.

Genjuro is taken under the tutelage of Nicotine Caffeine, who teaches him the way of the sword. It is during this time he meets Haohmaru, who was also a disciple of Nicotine, the two becoming friends and rivals. He is expelled by Nicotine after killing his opponents during a test, developing a deep grudge against Haohmaru as he blamed him for his misfortune, and also because he resembled the man which was with his mother. Haohmaru however still thought of him as a friend and worthy opponent.

Genjuro lived as an assassin for hire, doing all kinds of dirt jobs that others wouldn't accept during his travels, never discriminating between his victims. He also gained money by gambling, being very good in the hanafuda card game. His only companion ever is a small frog which follows him whenever he goes, though Genjuro doesn't really care for him.

Genjuro is eventually hired by Mizuki Rashoujin, being ordered to team up with Earthquake and Gen-An Shiranui and kill each target she orders. Though he initially refuses the job, he eventually accepts it under the condition that only him could be allowed to kill Haohmaru. After Mizuki is killed by Haohmaru, who is left exhausted from the battle, Genjuro finds him and threatens to kill him, only to be stopped by Hahomaru's lover Oshizu, though Haohmaru tells her to not protect him, as Genjuro would just kill her, but Genjuro decides to leave after she reasons that killing Haohmaru the way he was would prove nothing.

Genjuro would get another chance at Haohmaru much time later, defeating him fair and square this time. However, as he is about to deliver the finishing blow he is stabbed on the back by a boy seeking revenge for his father, who was anther of Genjuro's victims. Though he is not seen again, it is implied Genjuro died from the wound.
