"Faster! Move as if the Didact himself were watching!"
~ Gek ordering his fellow Sangheili into action.

Gek 'Lhar is the secondary antagonist of the "Spartan Ops" campaign in Halo 4 and the main antagonist of both Halo: Smoke and Shadow and Halo: Renegades. He is an Elite member of the Covenant Remnant. He fought and died during the Second Battle of Requiem.

Biography[]

Born on the island of Alytocs, just off the Nothern shores of Kaepra, the Elite field commander known as "Gek Lhar" served for decades during the Covenant's campaign against the humans, only to watch the military powerhouse crushed under the weight of the Great Schism.

In 2557, Gek hunted salvage crews, pitting him against the crew of the Ace of Spades and causing Rion Forge to stab him in the eye. Gek subsequently put a bounty on their heads and sought to salvage the remains of the Shield World Etran Harborage which had been destroyed by the UNSC Spirit of Fire nearly thirty years ago. However, learning of its location from the Ace of Spades, the UNSC attacked and destroyed the debris field with a massive barrage of nuclear missiles, forcing Gek to retreat. Subsequently, Rion tipped off Spartan Fireteam Apollo to Gek's location in the hopes that they would eliminate him and thus put an end to Gek's bounty on her crew's heads.

In 2558, Gek greeted Jul 'Mdama, the leader of the Storm Covenant, at the shrine of the Librarian. Jul had brought Henry Glassman who offered assistance for his life. Gek was giving the task of guarding Glassman as he worked. Gek was then informed that the assault of Galileo Base was a diversion for the humans. He was later ordered to pursue Dr. Henry Glassman and Spartan Gabriel Thorne after the two escaped. After finally catching up to his targets, Gek was shot and killed by Paul DeMarco.

Fireteam Majestic subsequently looted Gek's body, recovered the dog tags of the Spartans that Gek had killed and claimed several of his possessions for themselves. In particular, they took a holographic map that later helped the Infinity to escape from Requiem. DeMarco was gifted Gek's energy sword for his own use by Thorne as a thank you while Thorne took Gek's active camouflage module. After DeMarco's death, Thorne won Gek's energy sword for himself in a poker game.

Trivia[]

  • Gek is blind in one eye from Rion Forge stabbing him in it.
