|~ Freeza to Son Gohan, KaI dub|
Freeza or Frieza (Funimation dub) is the second of the four arch–villains of Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Z Kai (along with Vegeta, Cell, and Boo), as well as the main antagonist in the movie, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F, as well as the Dragon Ball Super adaption of it, and the Bardock: Father of Goku. He is arguably the main villain of the entire series due to his role in Son Goku's origins, as well as being the main villain of two story arcs, and one of the most evil and cruel villains of the Dragon Ball universe and is also the true main villain of the Freeza Saga; while most other major villains are mindless killing machines who were created to be evil, Freeza is a knowledgeable being, fully capable of reasoning, and commits all his atrocities expressly out of his own free will.
FormsFreeza is a lizardlike alien whom some refer to as a changeling, Ice-jin, a Frost Demon, or an Arcosian. He normally has four forms, though he has an additional Mecha form, and also a few additional video game exclusive forms.
First FormIn his first form, he is very small, with two black horns (similar to those of Captain Ginyu, the leader of his elite army, the Ginyu Force) and a long tail with a purple spike at the end of it. He also wears black shorts and Saiyan armor, except his is purple rather than white, black, or blue like his henchmen. His voice in this form sounds feminine, as he is voiced by Pauline Newstone in Ocean dub, Linda Young in FUNimation dub starting from Episode 54 (and in the redub), and in Dragon Ball Z Kai he is played by Chris Ayres, where he sounds considerably more masculine (and for that matter human; in Kai, he has a somewhat British-sounding accent as opposed to the high, raspy voice he has in other dubs).
After training for four months, his power in this form becomes so great that it is said not even Ultimate Gohan (as a Super Saiyan) could put up a fight against him, even with assistance from Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Kuririn, Roshi, and Jaco.
Second FormHe shatters his armor before he transforms into his second form, which is much bigger and taller than his first form. In this form, his horns are like a bull and his voice sounds more masculine, nearly as deep as Piccolo's. He also stretches his tail in an "auto-wine" attack.
Third FormIn his third form, his head is longer, and he has four white horns, and a face like a duck, and several spikes on his back, and his shoulders are in a similar shape to Saiyan armor. His voice sounds like those of his first and second forms together, and his appearance is similar to that of a xenomorph from the Alien series. He gains a distorted background" voice in this form. When he transforms into his fourth form, his third form shatters.
Hypothetical True Form
Freeza's hypothetical true form is a form which appears briefly in Episode 83 of the anime, it is Kuririn's imagining of how Freeza's final form will appear. It appears as a technique for Freeza in the Dragon Ball Z CCG under the name "Nightmare."
His fourth form looks much less intimidating than the previous three. He is taller than his first form, but is completely white with the usual purple spots on him, and he has no horns. Also, his tail does not have a spike on it. This form is stated to be his true form. He can vary the amount of power he uses in this form from an unknown but small percentage (his "base" power, and incorrectly stated to be 1% in the anime) all the way to 100% (see below). He uses two other gradients during his fight with Goku: 50% and 70%.
After four months of training, Freeza masters this form, no longer having to bulk up to use his full power, and no longer losing stamina and power the longer he stays at full power. His power also rises to a level almost on par with Super Saiyan God.
100% Full PowerHe can also power up to 100% of his maximum, and buff up. In the anime, this form sounds different from his first form, and a bit deeper, but in the games, movies, Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Z Kai, his voice is identical to that of his first form.
Mecha FreezaDue to the damage that he had gained by Super Saiyan Goku, and the destruction of Namek, Freeza was found by his father, King Cold and transformed into Mecha Freeza. Mecha Freeza was much stronger than previously, as, at 50% power he believed that he could easily outmatch a Super Saiyan. In this form he appears as a cyborg version of his true form.
In some video games, Mecha Freeza is able to power up to 100%, when he does so his aura begins crackling with red electricity and his body begins glowing with power.
This form is referred to as the "Ultimate Evolution" form. Freeza attains this form after his revival, by training extremely hard for four months. In this form Freeza is extremley powerful, being massively superior to Super Saiyan God SS Goku and Vegeta in terms of raw power, so much so that when he possessed the form's full power and stamina, Goku was unable to even do any damage to the tyrant. However, while the form is incredibly powerful it has the drawback of losing power and stamina at an incredibly fast rate, leading to Freeza's defeat since he chose to draw out his revenge instead of just finishing it instantly.
Full Armor Mecha FreezaAn alternate and more powerful version of Mecha Freeza which only appears in Super Dragon Ball Z, in this variant of his Mecha form his tail is now lined with blades, he has a large metallic orb on his shoulder (filled with ammunition) and also has a large missile launcher on his other shoulder.
Cybernetic Armor Freeza
When damaged after his battle with Super Saiyan Goku in Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors, Freeza attaches cybernetic parts to his bruised body, making his outer appearance identical to Mecha Freeza, bit he does not actually contain cybernetics internally. Freeza uses this state to defeat the Z Warriors and the Red Ribbon Androids.
Freeza gains a Super Evolution in Cooler's arcade mode ending of "Shin Budokai - Another Road."
A form displayed by Freeza in several video games where he is resurrected by Babidi. In the games story, Freeza is revived alongside Cell and the two both take on Majin forms due to Babidi's influence. They fight the Z Warriors and are defeated. Once Babidi is killed. Freeza and Cell are freed from his influence.
Freeza's Ghost Warrior form only appears in Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans and it's remake Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans. In this form, Freeza is resurrected by Raichi as an invincible Ghost, this form looks exactly the same as Freeza's true form. In this form, Freeza is able to defeat Full-Power Super Saiyan Gohan and also fight on par with both Super Saiyans Vegeta and Future Trunks. In this state, Freeza is able to constantly regenerate as long as their is a Destron Gas Machine nearby.
Freeza (w/ Janemba's evil energy)
Freeza only takes this form in Shin Budokai - Another Road, when he prepares to kidnap Android 18 and destroy the Earth. Freeza powers up to his maximum and begins absorbing Janemba's evil energy in order to increase his power to become higher than that of anyone on Earth.
Freeza is a polite, yet an extremely sadistic individual, taking great delight in slaughtering and destroying others, particularly on a massive scale. This is best shown when he laughed in delight as he watched Planet Vegeta blow up from his Death Ball. Freeza also enjoys making people suffer before killing them, which is why he does not kill his foes outright. A notable fact is that he has tortured every character to fight him. He is also extremely egotistical and has a rather sardonic sense of humor, such as when he was talking about Vegeta and stated, "There are three things I refuse to tolerate. Cowardice, bad haircuts, and military insurrection. And it is unfortunate that our friend Vegeta possesses all three of these." Freeza is very cold-hearted and cares about no one but himself, though he is respectful of his father, King Cold. Freeza's personality seems to be a counter to Goku's light-hearted, kind, and peaceful one, but it is unknown if this was done intentionally. He is usually able to react to any situation evenly and only loses his cool when even his full power is not enough. However for all his pride and arrogance, Freeza is rather paranoid, destroying Planet Vegeta simply because of a myth of a Super Saiyan, which was supposed to be the one thing that could destroy him. Despite this, he boasts of being the strongest being in the universe, and he is (for the most part) correct in this assessment.
Freeza has a large number of henchmen at his disposal, the strongest of which are Zarbon, Dodoria, and Cui. He also has an elite army called the Ginyu Special Force, and more special forces - such as Abo and Kado.
At some point prior to the series, Freeza had a child named Kuriza.Freeza got the Saiyans to work for him and sell planets to him, killing all their inhabitants to conquer them. When the Saiyans began getting stronger, Frieza feared that a Super Saiyan would rise up and destroy him, so he killed their king, King Vegeta, and destroyed their home planet, Planet Vegeta. Only a few Saiyans were not caught in the explosion, including Vegeta, Nappa, Raditz, and Son Goku (whose Saiyan name is Kakarot), the protagonist of the series.
Hunt for the Dragon Balls
When Raditz came to Earth and was defeated by Piccolo, he sent a message to Nappa and Vegeta about the Dragon Balls, via his scouter.Freeza heard the message, so he and his henchmen, including Zarbon and Dodoria, went over to Namek to get the Dragon Balls so he could wish for immortality. Freeza and his men killed the Namekians of five villages to get the Dragon Balls. However, at the fifth, the elder, Moori, destroyed all his men's scouters, preventing them from tracking down the Dragon Balls. Dodoria became separated from them while chasing down Kuririn and Son Gohan, who intervened to save a Namek boy Dende from Dodoria. Dodoria never returned, as he was later attacked and killed by Vegeta.
Once he deduced that Dodoria was dead (and deeming him expendable anyways), Freeza headed back to his ship with his five Dragon Balls, leaving Zarbon and Appule to find the two remaining Dragon Balls. Zarbon ran into Vegeta and transformed into his monster form to defeat him, but Vegeta had previously attacked a Namek village and hidden its Dragon Ball. The village was discovered by Freeza's henchman Orlen, who was killed by Freeza for not finding out the location of the Dragon Ball (he killed the only survivor). Freeza instructed Zarbon to bring Vegeta to him and heal him to make him tell them where the Dragon Balls were.
Calling for the Ginyu Force
However, Vegeta killed Appule, broke out of Freeza's ship, and stole his five Dragon Balls. An enraged Freeza gave Zarbon one hour to find Vegeta or face execution. Though he transformed again, Zarbon was no match for Vegeta, who becomes stronger after each time he recovers from serious injuries. After Vegeta killed Zarbon and took the Dragon Ball that Kuririn got from Guru, the Great Elder, Freeza summoned the Ginyu Special Force. The Ginyu Force - Recoome, Burter, Jeice, Guldo, and Captain Ginyu - arrived on Namek, and Jeice brought Freeza scouters.
Vegeta joined forces with Kuririn and Gohan, however Ginyu took all seven Dragon Balls from them and brought them to Freeza. Freeza tried to summon the eternal dragon, but as he did not know the Namekian password to summon him, he was unsuccessful. So he headed toward Guru's house to get the password from him, leaving Ginyu and his henchmen behind to guard the Dragon Balls. He flew right by Dende, whom Guru asked to tell Kuririn and Gohan the password, but chose to ignore him for sake of time. He arrived at Guru's house where Nail, Namek's greatest warrior, told Freeza that if Guru dies, the Dragon Balls disappear.
Confronting NailTo prevent Freeza to cause anymore harm, Nail challenged Freeza to a battle. However, Freeza easily beat him up, until the Namekian revealed that his plan was to distract Freeza so Dende could give the Z Warriors the password. Enraged, Freeza immediately headed back to his spaceship, and was shocked to discover on his scouter that all the Ginyu Force had been killed (except for Ginyu, who had accidentally switched bodies with a frog).
The Battles with FriezaAn extremely angry Freeza arrived at the scene shortly after Gohan, Kuririn, and Dende summoned the eternal dragon Porunga and wished Piccolo back to life before teleporting him to Namek, and after Porunga disappeared because Guru died at that moment. Freeza fought Vegeta and appeared evenly matched with him (if not at a slight advantage, seeing as how Vegeta was out of breath and Freeza was not), so Vegeta suggested that he transform, since Zarbon told him about it. Freeza transformed into his second form (which has a fighting power of one million) and impaled Kuririn with his horn. This made Gohan angry, and he beat up Freeza. However, Freeza survived and attacked Gohan, until Kuririn was healed by Dende and cut off Freeza's tail with a Kienzan, then distracted him so Dende could heal Gohan. As Gohan, Kuririn, and Vegeta went for a head-on attack, Piccolo came. Before appearing to fight Freeza, Piccolo fused with a badly injured Nail to increase his power, and was evenly matched with Freeza. This forced Freeza to reveal that he has two more forms and transformed into his third. He barraged Piccolo, but Gohan attacked him with a Masenko, using up all his power in the process. Freeza was incredibly angry at this point and decided that he would show them what he deemed to be the most terrifying thing in the universe, his final form. Freeza then transformed into his fourth form, however he witnessed Dende healing Piccolo, so after finishing his transformation, he killed Dende with a Death Beam to prevent him from healing anyone again. Vegeta, who had previously been injured by Kuririn and healed by Dende (as his plan to become stronger, and maybe turn into a Super Saiyan) fought Freeza, but was simply unable to hit him. Freeza patiently waited until the Saiyan had fully realized the hopelessness of the situation and lost his will to fight. He then attacked Vegeta, slowly beating him to death, until Goku arrived, having fully recovered from his injuries from the fight with Ginyu. Freeza then killed Vegeta with a Death Beam through the chest, for no reason other than to shut him up about Goku being a Super Saiyan and how he would destroy Freeza.
Final battle with the Super Saiyan
Goku fought Freeza in an epic battle that took 19 episodes. At one point, Freeza said he would fight Goku without using his hands, but was forced to break the deal, as Goku gained the advantage after biting Freeza's tail (to prevent him from choking him). Freeza attacked by throwing rocks and chunks of land at Goku, and trapping him in an energy ball that would explode if it touched anything except Freeza. However, his one weakness was that he could not sense energy signals, and could not hit Goku unless he could see him.Goku and Freeza were evenly matched, until Freeza powered up to 50% of his maximum and beat up Goku. Goku tried Kaio-ken x20 and briefly regained the advantage, but Freeza survived, virtually untouched, and continued pounding Goku. With no other option, Goku gathered energy from Namek and the planets around it to form a Genki Dama. Once Freeza realized the danger he was in, he tried to kill Goku to stop him, but Piccolo attacked Freeza as a distraction. Freeza was about to destroy the Namekian, but when Goku's Genki Dama was complete, he fired it at Freeza. Freeza used all his might to fight off the powerful Genki Dama, but the projectile damaged him in the progress. Freeza somehow survived, however, though a portion of his tail was missing. He shot a Death Beam at Goku, but Piccolo took the hit and was seriously wounded. Freeza killed Kuririn afterwards, angering Goku so much that he transformed into a Super Saiyan. Ironically, Freeza had created the very thing he had so long feared and gone to such great lengths to eliminate. In this form, Goku gained the advantage over Freeza, so the extraterrestrial tyrant shot a Death Ball at the planetary core of Namek, which would inevitably cause it to explode. Frieza estimated five minutes, but five hours was more accurate (it took 10 episodes to blow up). Later, Freeza powered up to 100% of his maximum. Against the wishes of Kaio, Goku let Freeza reach his maximum so he would be sure that Freeza was beaten at his best and would never come back to haunt them.
Freeza managed to briefly regain his advantage over Goku. Eventually, the two went on a crash course, with Goku shooting a Kamehameha wave and Freeza charging at him with red energy. Though Goku appeared to be winning at first, Freeza jumped out of the Kamehameha wave and pounded Goku into the ground, knocking him into the lava. Gohan then returned to fight Freeza. Meanwhile, Mr. Popo collected the Earth's Dragon Balls and Kaio told Kami to tell him to wish back everyone killed by Freeza and his henchmen back to life. Kuririn was unable to be resurrected, as he had already been wished back once, but Vegeta, Dende, Guru, and all the Namekians did.
Gohan used his hidden powers to gain the advantage over Freeza. As Freeza powered up again, Goku reemerged from the lava, having survived Freeza's attack. While fighting Freeza, Goku telepathically overheard Kaio's plan to use Porunga's last wish to teleport everyone on Namek to Earth except Freeza, and elected to stay behind to finish Freeza off. Guru told Dende to make the wish, however Freeza saw Porunga and got there first and started screaming for immortality. However, he did not know that one must speak the Namekian language to make a wish to Porunga, so when Dende made his wish, Porunga granted it and not Freeza's wish. Everyone on Namek was teleported to Earth except Goku and Freeza, who continued their battle.Freeza's strength decreased with every blow and Goku beat him up. At one point, he decided to spare the evil tyrant's life, knowing that Freeza could not win, because his 100% full power put tremendous stress on his body. However, Freeza attacked Goku with his Tsuibi Kienzan (a homing energy circle razor), unwilling to accept defeat, so Goku resumed the fight with him. During the fight, Freeza overlooked a Kienzan razor that was coming up behind him (in an attempt to chase after Goku) and chopped him in half, cutting his left arm off as well. Goku decided to leave Freeza to die on Namek, but Freeza begged him for his life, so Goku reluctantly gave him some of his own energy so that he could escape. Still unwilling to accept defeat, Freeza shot an energy blast at Goku as he attempted to leave. An extremely enraged Goku shot his own energy blast at Freeza and stopped him, ending the battle.
Return and first deathHowever, Freeza survived the attack (though Kaio believed him to be dead), and was caught in Namek's explosion (which Goku escaped), but survived it as well (though a huge chunk was missing from his head). His father, the wicked giant King Cold, found him drifting through space, barely alive, and had him made into a cyborg, even stronger than before. The minute he reawakened, he told his father to take him to Earth so he could blow it up as revenge on Goku.
Freeza and King Cold arrived on Earth. Gohan, Kuririn (who was wished back with the Namek Dragon Balls), Piccolo, Vegeta, Yamcha, Tenshinhan, and Chaozu went out to attempt to face him, even though they knew that he would defeat them easily. However, before Freeza could start his vengeance, Trunks appeared from the future. He killed all of Freeza's henchmen, but Freeza was not in the least bit intimidated - until Trunks transformed into a Super Saiyan. After two failed attempts at destroying him, Freeza shot a giant Supernova energy ball at Planet Earth to blow it up. But Trunks caught it with one hand, so Freeza blew up the Supernova. Trunks was thought to be dead, but he escaped the explosion without so much as a scratch, and shot a Burning Attack at Freeza and King Cold. They dodged it, and then Trunks chopped Freeza vertically in half with his sword. He then sliced him to pieces and finished him off with an energy wave, reducing him to nothing more than dust and finally killing him at last. Trunks then killed King Cold just as easily.
Many years later, just before heading to Earth, the God of Destruction Beerus questioned his attendant Whis on the status of Freeza, with Whis explaining Freeza's defeats and death, and showing Beerus the fight between 50% Power Freeza and Super Saiyan Goku.
The Resurrection of Freeza
Works to both movie and Dragon Ball Super
For years after his defeat and death at the hands of the Super Saiyans, Freeza remained in Hell. However, over a decade after his supposed final defeat, his minion Sorbet, who was running his army in his place, decided that it was time for them to revive Freeza. Sorbet and Tagoma went to Earth and obtained the Dragon Balls, wishing Freeza back to life.
Freeza returned to life in his cut-up mecha state and was immediately taken back to the ship to be placed in a rejuvenation chamber. The new chamber fully healed Freeza to his previous non-cybernetic state. After a discussion with his soldiers, resulting in the deaths of several who questioned him, including Tagoma. Freeza announced that he would have his revenge, and to do so would train for four months in order to increase his power to a level on par with the Super Saiyan Gods and Gods of Destruction - which he believed himself capable of thanks to being a prodigy.
The tyrant was correct, and upon his arrival to Earth with 1,000 warriors, his mere first form was noted as being in a completely different league altogether from even the likes of Super Namek Piccolo and Super Saiyan Gohan. After his army fails to defeat the Z Warriors he wipes them all out with a Death Cannon.
Goku and Vegeta then arrive, and Freeza and Goku begin fighting, with Frieza going straight to his newly mastered final form, and Goku using his Saiyan beyond God form (his base form, but with the power of Super Saiyan God). Goku has a clear advantage and manages to avoid being damaged at all by Freeza, even when the tyrant attacks with his Golden Death Ball. The two then both reveal that they have been holding back. Goku reveals his Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan form, and Freeza counters by revaling his Ultimate Evolution: Golden Freeza, the two then begin fighting again.
As the fight goes on, Golden Freeza is clearly shown to be dominating the fight - without even bothering to use his full power or fight seriously, as he easily smacks around Goku, injuring the Saiyan greatly while not even getting a single scratch to his own frame. He proves his superiority by increasing his power and releasing an energy cutter beam which, despite not even hitting Goku, has enough power in its aftershock to knock him off his feet and damage him. Freeza, Goku, and Vegeta then stop for a brief talk, with Goku revealing that he has noticed that Freeza's power is dropping rapidly. Freeza angrily realizes that this is true and begins to fight seriously, however, Goku begins using evasive tactics to cause Freeza to waste his energy.
Eventually, Golden Freeza's power drops so much so that he is unable to damage Goku with his hits. At this point, Goku easily knocks him down with a God Kamehameha wave. However, while Goku has his guard down, Freeza signals Sorbet who shoots Goku in the heart with a surprise shot, grievously wounding him. After torturing Goku, Freeza asks Vegeta to be the one to kill Goku and in exchange, Freeza will make him supreme commander of his army, Vegeta declines and has Kuririn give Goku a Senzu bean, also killing Sorbet by reflecting an attack that was aimed at Kuririn at him. Vegeta then reveals that he too possess a Super Saiyan God SS form and easily defeats his severely drained former master.
Freeza, his energy gone, reverts to his final form, however as Vegeta is about to finish him off, Freeza detonates the planet entirety of Earth, killing Vegeta and every one else on the planet. The only survivors are those that Beerus and Whis saved with an energy shield. Whis tells Goku that he is willing to rewind time so that Goku can defeat Freeza like he should have when he had the chance. Goku obliges and they go back to just as Freeza is about to detonate the planet, Super Saiyan God SS Goku leaps out and hits Freeza with a God Kamehameha wave, saving the Earth.
Freeza is then back in Hell, and to his horror is welcomed by the angels. Freeza then cries at being returned to his torment.
AfterlifeFreeza was sent to hell after his death. Once Cell was destroyed and sent to hell, Freeza, King Cold, and the Ginyu Force (still minus Captain Ginyu) teamed up with him to cause trouble. Goku and Paikuhan went to stop them. Goku defeated the Ginyu Force, and Paikuhan defeated Cell, King Cold, and Freeza, knocking Freeza out cold with a palm strike to the face. All seven villains were locked up in a prison cell. They were later released, and apparently did not cause any more trouble. Freeza witnessed the battle between Goku and Pure Majin Boo through a giant crystal ball with all the other villains in hell, sticking his tongue out at Goku. When Goku destroys Pure Boo, Freeza states that he is not surprised
Episode of Bardock
Freeza appears at the beginning of the movie, where he uses his Supernova in order to destroy Planet Vegeta, sending Bardock back in time.
Dragon Ball Z movies
It was said that the Dragon Ball movies all happened in dimensions separate from the main timeline, so several different dimensional counterparts of Freeza appear as villains.
Bardock - Father of Goku
Freeza appears throughout the movie, rapidly approaching Planet Vegeta, before destroying it with his Supernova.
Freeza appears at the start of the movie, where Cooler and his Armored Squadron watch Freeza destroy Planet Vegeta.
Plan to Eradicate the SaiyansIn Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, Freeza escaped as ghost fighter along with Cooler, Tullece, and Lord Slug thanks to Raichi. They plan to kill all living Saiyans. Freeza fights with Trunks and Vegeta and gets killed by Trunks, however, in an alternate ending, Freeza kills Trunks and Vegeta. In another alternate ending, in the pre-fight with Freeza and Son Gohan, Freeza is easily over powering Gohan in the fight. Freeza ends up killing Gohan after punching the half-Saiyan in the stomach few times.
Fusion RebornIn the movie Fusion Reborn, Janemba's appearance caused many villains, including Freeza, to escape from Hell. Several of his henchmen, as well as movie villains (including Bojack and Paragus) were working for him, and he sent them to attack Son Gohan. But Gohan punched Freeza in the stomach and blew him up, completely destroying him.
Dragon Ball GTIn Dragon Ball GT, when Dr. Gero and the artificial Android 17 opened up a portal from Hell and all the villains escaped, Freeza and Cell remained behind to fight Son Goku when Dr. Gero and Dr. Myuu lured him into Hell. Goku beats up Cell and Freeza, but was unable to kill them because they were already dead. Freeza and Cell sent Goku to a cave below Hell where he was tortured and frozen, but since he was not dead, the ice melted. After knocking Cell and Freeza away, Goku used the ice machine to freeze the villains. He accidentally knocked Freeza into Cell, causing them both to fall down and shatter. They later came back together, as they could not die again, but were chained up, put in a cage, and hauled away by ogres. GT is only canon to the anime and not the manga.
Video GamesFreeza is a playable character in the Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi series of video-games for the PlayStation2. In these games, the voices for all his forms sound exactly the same (though his second and third forms sound slightly deeper than his first and fourth, barely noticeable). Also, the games give insight as to what Freeza's third form looks like with his tail completely intact (as it was cut off by Kuririn before he transformed into his third form). Freeza's cyborg form, Mecha Freeza, is counted as a separate character rather than a transformation.
Freeza is the leader of most of the villains who escape from hell when Janemba returns and causes further havoc. Freeza immediately begins searching for the Dragon Balls, even fighting and defeating Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan along the way.
Shin Budokai - Another Road
Freeza's alernate timeline counterpart - Future Freeza appears in the side story Another Road. Future Freeza and Future Cell are resurrected by Future Babidi and brought to his timeline to assist him in resurrecting Future Majin Boo, Freeza joins in during the final battle of the game but is defeated and sent back to Hell.
Another Road takes place a few years after Dragon Ball Z.

Kyutai Panic Adventure!
Freeza appears in the Dragon Ball, One Piece, Astro Boy crossover as one of the main antagonists. Freeza attacks the Fuji TV orb section, he blasts the orb and throws it into the ocean so taht it will sink. Goku, Gohan, and Kuririn appear to lift it out of the ocean, but Freeza fires a Death Beam at it. Goku blocks the attack and then powers up into a Super Saiyan, with Freeza going at 100% power, the two then fight as events continue below.
Powers and Abilities
Freeza has superhuman abilities and the ability to manipulate energy, like many other characters throughout the Dragon Ball series. However, these powers go far beyond what had previously been seen; even in his first form his power level exceeds that of any character introduced up until that point by a factor of twenty. In a flashback to the genocide of the Saiyans, Freeza kills King Vegeta, the most powerful Saiyan at the time, with a single blow to the jaw. Actual levels of speed and strength (not power level) in relation to a normal human are never expressed and are essentially meaningless, Freeza has been shown to be able to fly at a speed which exceeds Sound, and has shown remarkable physical strength, easily ripping a person's arm off. He can also survive in space and transform so as to be able to use more of his power. Freeza has a number of signature techniques, such as the Death Ball, a powerful ball of energy that he generates from his fingertip and grows the more energy he puts into it. He usually uses this to unleash mass destruction, such as when he destroyed Planet Vegeta with one of its most powerful variants - the Supernova.
Another technique he used often was his Death Beam, a small but potent beam of energy also fired from his finger that he often used to quickly kill people. Freeza also possesses telekinetic powers and great ability to survive grievous injuries, able to survive getting sliced in half, being blasted by Goku's final energy attack, and even getting caught in Namek's explosion. In one video game, Freeza is revealed to be able to use the Kamehameha, it is likely that Cell taught him this technique while in hell. Frieza can use the Kiai along with his own stronger version, "Don't Get So Cocky!"
Freeza also has powerful psychokinectic and tekelinetic abilities, being able to levitate and throw large rocks and mountains, lift people, and freeze people in place. He can also combine his ki with telekinesis to form the Choeki Ball for imprisonment, which is almost impossible to escape from.
In several video games, Freeza has the ability to transform into a fifth form (though only as a palette swap for Cooler), Freeza's fifth form is also referenced in Dragon Ball Online. This form makes Freeza stronger than Cooler.
Techniques and weapons
- Death Beam - shoots a beam of piercing energy
- Death Beam Blast - a variant of the Death Beam which only has the strength of a ki blast
- Rush Blast - a rapid fire version of the Death Beam Blast.
- Barrage Death Beam - weaker rapid fire blasts
- Double Death Beam - Death Beam charged with two fingers, 2x stronger.
- Chaotic Dead End - shoots the opponent with a large Death Beam and that creates an explosion.
- Full Power Death Beam - a charged versions of the Death Beam which has as much force as an energy wave.
- Death Beam Blast - a variant of the Death Beam which only has the strength of a ki blast

When Freeza is revived and trains for four months his first form becomes so powerful than not even Ultimate Gohan (as Super Saiyan) is said to be any match for him. In his final form he possess enough power to fight someone with the power of a Super Saiyan God, and upon taking on his Ultimate Evolution: Golden Freeza he is able to completely outmatch a Super Saiyan God SS without even boethring to fight seriously or use his full power, making Freeza (at 100% power) at least very close to Beerus' power.

Freeza's power appears to have increased drastically in Dragon Ball GT, as he is able to fight evenly with Goku (in base form) who had become more powerful than Majin Boo. Dragon Ball Z: Scouter Battle Taikan Kamehameha states that Freeza (at 10%) had a power level of 143,994,141. This means that at full power he would have a power level of 1,439,941,410.

Freeza's power appears to have greatly improved by the time of Shin Budokai - Another Road, as, at 100% power he is able to fight and kill Broly (who in the game has power on par with Super Saiyan 3 Goku). Cooler and Cell were also subservient to him in this game, meaning he was stronger than both of them. In Young Jijji's non-canon (fanon) continuation manga, Freeza's son Ize appears as the main villain. Freeza is also mentioned. In Volume 2, Freeza appears in Hell cheering for his son and stating how proud he is. After Ize is defeated, Freeza is incredibly disappointed, stating his frustration at his family having been beaten again by Saiyans.
Freeza appears a few times in Toyble's AF. He appears being rebuilt into Mecha Freeza in a flashback that reveals that that the East Kaioshin is his mother. He also appears in Hell where he amd Cell attempt to defeat Piccolo, whoc had been easily beating up any villain who comes after him, Piccolo proceeds to blast the two of them.
Dragon Ball Multiverse
Freeza appears in the fan manga sequel to Dragon Ball Z by Salagir. Freeza is one of the entrants of the tournament. The Freeza here is different from the original (the original was from Universe 18, the one in Mutiverse is from Universe 8).
Dragon Ball Z Abridged
Freeza is almost the same as he is in the actual series. His main satisfaction is his over-usage of black humour, virtually making jokes about death and killing in almost every one of his appearances. He also acts overly polite and even effeminately to a much greater level in the anime.
After hearing of the Saiyans' increasing power, he decides to exterminate them. Bardock attempts to stop him, but Freeza deals with him easily. During the genocide, Cooler sees Son Goku's ship leaving and decides to let him go because he is a "prick."
Many years later, Freeza takes an army with him to conquer Namek. Having collected four Dragon Balls, Kuririn and Son Gohan ambush his cavalry. Freeza tells Dodoria to chase them, but the elite henchman is killed by Vegeta. Later on, after all his Dragon Balls are stolen and Zarbon is killed, Freeza calls the Ginyu Special Force to help get them back. He then realizes that the Namekian Dragon Balls require a Namekian password after killing all the Namekians. Captain Ginyu suggests that Freeza should search for other Namekians. Freeza shows up at Guru's, and leaves to battle Nail. After defeating Nail and tearing his arm off 24 times, Freeza rushes to the dragon, that Gohan, Kuririn, and Dende have summoned.
After the dragon dies, Freeza tells Vegeta what really happened to Planet Vegeta and then transforms into his second form, nearly killing Kuririn. When Piccolo shows up, Freeza decides to transform into his third form and wounds Piccolo.
When Freeza transforms into his final form, he kills Dende then defeats Vegeta. Goku arrives and Vegeta tells him to defeat Freeza shortly before dying. Goku is Freeza's strongest foe yet (and the stupidest). He throws a Genki Dama at Freeza, seemingly killing him. After Freeza reveals that he is not dead, he shoots Piccolo with a death beam through his chest and kills Kuririn. Goku is infuriated at this and powers up to Super Saiyan. Freeza promises Goku two pizzas with stuffed crust in return for letting Freeza power up to full strength. In the midst of their battle, Freeza almost destroys Namek and gives it five minutes until it explodes. He shoots two Tsuibi Kienzan at Goku, which miss and return to cut him in half from behind.
After asking Goku to spare "a cup of energy," Goku concedes and flies away, causing Freeza to reflect on his misdeeds. Believing he received a second chance to change, he blows it off shouting "NAH!" and fires at Goku, only to be vaporized by a more powerful blast from the Super Saiyan who really meant to give him more energy. However, a post-credits scene reveals Freeza alive in space and mechanized by his father King Cold in a parody of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, complete with background music from the film.
Mecha Freeza then goes to Earth with his father, but he proves to have some error, such as lagging. Eventually, he is killed by Future Trunks, who shuts down with a blue screen of death.
- "Pool’s open; water’s fine... Hmm, no? Just going to stand there like a bunch of piss-ants? Thought so. Now, where were we? Oh, right, I believe it was... kidney punch. Kidney punch, kidney punch, kidney punch, and pause... kidney punch."
- Frieza is regarded to be Dragon Ball Z's most despicable villain. While Cell was genetically engineered to destroy the universe and Boo was a mindless beast, Frieza chose to be evil. Although he was offered multiple opportunities to change his ways, he remained unrepentantly villainous and was one of the reasons Dragon Ball Z was listed a violent show by moral guardians in the 1990's.
- Although he wasn't the most powerful until Resurrection F, Frieza is Dragon Ball Z's most popular villain and one of its most iconic and recognizable characters, aside from Goku himself.
- Akira Toriyama has stated that Frieza is a combination of all his worst fears. This is even referenced in Dragon Ball Z Kai, when Krillin says his second form is out of a nightmare.
- His 3rd form bears a notable resemblance to a Xenomorph. This is humorously referenced in Team Four Star's Abridged Series; when Frieza asks Piccolo what he thinks of it, Piccolo replies "I think Ridley Scott's going to sue somebody."
