~ Revelation 6:8, which tells of the coming of the Four Horsemen. |
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, often simply referred to as the Four Horsemen, are something of a stock character found in fiction. They first appear in the Book of Revelation in the Bible as harbingers of the Last Judgment. They have since often been used in the same manner in fiction, as harbingers for some sort of cataclysmic event (particularly in biblical fictional works.) Usual four horsemen represent Conquest or Pestilence (on a white horse), War (on a red horse), Famine (on a black horse) and Death (on a pale horse).
