The Foot have existed for centuries, rodent - hidden in the deepest dark, striking out at our enemies when they least expect it, then vanishing into the night until called upon by our master to strike again. We are assassins. We are thieves. We are warriors. We are ninja.
~ Karai explaining the Foot Clan to Splinter.

The Foot Clan are the main antagonists of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.

They are a clan of malevolent ninjas led by the nefarious Shredder, who often commands them to destroy the Ninja Turtles. Frequently appearing in all incarnations, the Foot Clan are notable for being the most common adversaries of the Ninja Turtles.

Biography[]

The Foot Clan consist of a multitude of faceless ninjas who exist to do battle with the heroic turtles and although they tend to fall rather easily they are anything if persistent and continually return to take more punishment. Some versions also reserve their more skilled soldiers just in case a bigger threat appears.

Aside from using ninjas as soldiers, the Foot has been known to associate with gangsters, robots, mutants and even aliens and demons throughout their different interpretations. They appear in the Mirage Comics, Archie Comics, and the IDW comics. The founders from the Mirage Comics are named Sato and Oshi, while in the IDW comics the Founder is Takeshi Tatsuo who was reincarnated as Oroku Saki, the man who would eventually become The Shredder

Other members include the Foot Elite and the Foot Mystics, as well as some Foot Scientists, although these are mostly seen in the 2003 animated series.

Bebop and Rocksteady are often seen as members of the Foot during their debut in the 1987 show and would since appear in many incarnations like in the Archie and IDW comics, or the 2012 series.

The Purple Dragons also work for the Foot in some versions, with Hun, their leader, being one of Shredder's enforcers.

Other members include Ktisune, Koya ,Bludgeon, and Alpoex from the IDW comics, Tiger Claw and Fishface from the 2012 animated series, and Tatsu,Tokka and Rahzar from the movies.

The Foot sometimes ally with Krang, a warlord from Dimension X while in other incarnations they can be considered rivals for world conquest.

Trivia[]

  • As the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise originally borrowed elements from the Marvel Comics superhero Daredevil, the Foot Clan was based off the Marvel Comics' evil ninja group and one of Daredevil's recurring antagonists, The Hand. As with the rest of the original comics, they served as a homage to them. In the later comics, they had become different from them with Shredder taking some elements of Ra's Al Ghul.
