“ | Ascension to power in drow society is a simple process of assassination. The Spider Queen is a deity of chaos, and she and her high priestesses, the true rulers of the drow world, do not look with ill favor upon ambitious individuals wielding poisoned daggers. | „ |

Lolth, born as Araushnee, and also known as the Queen of Spiders as well as the Queen of the Demonweb Pits, is one of the main antagonists of the Dungeons & Dragons universe.
She is one of the main antagonists of Forgotten Realms, and the overarching antagonist of R.A Salvatore's The Legend of Drizzt and Critical Role: Exandria Unlimited.
She is a powerful but evil goddess, making her lair in the Infinite Layers of the Abyss. She is considered the supreme goddess of the Drows.
In fact, it is the cultural worship of Lolth as a whole that causes Drow to become the hateful, evil creatures they are infamous for, since evil-alignment is not inherent to Drow but rather learned due to her influence.
She was voiced by Aabria Iyengar in Critical Roles: Exandria Unlimited.
About Lolth[]
Lolth is often called the Demon Queen of Spiders, Spider Queen and the Queen of the Demonweb Pits - as can be expected from such titles Lolth is heavily associated with spiders and darkness as well as evil in its most chaotic forms (her alignment is stated as Chaotic Evil in most settings).
Lolth furthers her spider-themed chaos via the creation of Driders, horrific fusions of Drow and spider that are formed by Lolth whenever a Drow displeases her or fails one of her tasks (though in some rarer setting Drider are instead seen as "blessed" by their goddess with this form).
As a goddess Lolth's domain of influence is normally seen to include Chaos, Darkness, Drow, Evil, Destruction, Spiders and Trickery - she also has a connection with Assassins (most likely due to the shadowy nature of their work).
She was the consort of Corellon and the mother of the chaotic good deity Eilistraee.
TV appearance[]
Lolth appears in the animated series Dungeons & Dragons. Lolth is the Demon Queen of Spiders who is in league with Venger.
When the heroes are fleeing from the angry customers of the Dragon's Tooth tavern, she adopts a human guise and offers them an escape route, taking them through tunnels that run beneath city. She then transforms into a haggish spider hybrid and traps the heroes in an adhesive spider web so that Venger can claim their totems.
Afterwards Lolth transforms into a giant spider and lowers herself down into the web to consume the heroes but Uni, prompted by Hank, severs Lolth's line with her alicorn causing Lolth to plummet down the seemingly bottomless pit that the spider web was spun across.
In Dungeons & Dragons Online[]
The Forgotten Realms version of Lolth is the main antagonist of the Menace of the Underdark expansion pack. She is responsible for introducing the Forgotten Realms to the previously Eberron-based game, making her one of the game's most significant characters.
Lolth plans to consume the Thread of the Weave, the remaining power of the magic goddess Mystra after her murder by Cyric. Doing so will make Lolth the new goddess of magic, forcing all mortal races to compete for her favor in order to use it and making her chief among gods. As part of this plan, she reached out to the world of Eberron and allied with the Lords of Dust there, using them to acquire dragonshards. While Lolth promised to help the Lords of Dust free the demon Overlords they served, she had no intention of keeping her word once she had what she wanted - upon opening a rift to Eberron, she took what she needed and simply left it open, intending for the rift to swallow up all of Eberron and drag the planet's remains into the Demonweb.
In the Forgotten Realms, Lolth focused her efforts on the nation of Cormyr. The Thread of the Weave was contained within Ana Brabener, a farm girl from the Cormyrian village of Eveningstar. Drow under Lolth's command attacked Eveningstar and eventually managed to take Ana to the Demonweb. Before Lolth could devour Ana and gain control over all magic, however, a party of adventurers rescued Ana from the Demonweb, battling Lolth herself in the process.
After the rescue, Lolth arrived in the Underdark to confront Ana and her rescuers. Ana responded by attacking Lolth with the full power of the Thread of the Weave. Genuinely wounded by a mortal for perhaps the first time, Lolth fled back to the Demonweb. She appears to have abandoned the Thread of the Weave plot thereafter.
