The Serpentine are major characters in LEGO's Ninjago theme, including sets, the cartoon, and other spin-offs. They are an ancient race of reptilian humanoids who were once the dominant species of Ninjago. They were the primary enemies during Ninjago's 2012 theme run, replacing the Skulkin in 2011 and being replaced by the Stone Army in 2013.
History[]
They warred with each other for centuries until they discovered the legend of the Golden Master. They tried to warn the humans but Chen, taking advantage of the situation, manipulated the two races into attacking each other, starting the first Serpentine War. Eventually, the humans, with the aid of Master Wu, Garmadon and the Elemental Masters, defeated the Serpentine using the Sacred Flutes and locked them away in five separate tombs, one for each tribe (Anacondrai, Hypnobrai, Fangpyre, Constrictai, and Venomari). Almost 40 years later, they were released by Lloyd Garmadon and Pythor.
The Serpentine have an undefined connection to the Great Devourer, worshipping it as an all-powerful god and ruler. They formerly believed that the Devourer could have been used as the ultimate weapon for ruling Ninjago and getting revenge on its current inhabitants, but it was destroyed by Lord Garmadon shortly after Pythor released it.
As of now, the Serpentine follow Skales, and live underground in the former tomb of the Stone Army. They have also redeemed themselves and put aside their warmongering ways, although some Serpentine, most notably Pythor and Aspheera, remain evil to this day.

Tribes[]
- Anacondrai - They are purple Serpentine capable of turning invisible. They were once the most powerful Serpentine of all time but are now extinct. (Except for Pythor.)
- Hypnobrai - They are blue Serpentine with red eyes capable of hypnotizing anyone.
- Fangpyre - They are red Serpentine with venom that can turn any human, animal, or machine into snakelike chimeras.
- Constrictai - They are black Serpentine that is capable of squeezing their victims and are very good at digging.
- Venomari - They are green Serpentine with venom that can make their victims see hallucinations.
- Vermillion - They are a recent species of Serpentine to evolve and are the first-generation progeny of the Great Devourer, appearing as masses of unevolved and seemingly non-sapient snakes that can merge into more evolved and sapient humanoid forms. They are presumed to currently be trapped inside the Iron Doom, which is lost in time.
- Pyro Vipers - An ancient tribe of Hypnobrai that lived in an Egyptian-themed society. They went extinct sometime before the series' events, but were revived by Aspheera and can absorb any source of fire or lava they please.
