Oh, you've got to be f-ckin' shitting me!
~ Jay Baruchel upon confronting Satan.

Lucifer, commonly known as Satan or The Devil, is the main antagonist of the 2013 horror comedy film This Is the End.

Satan is dead-set on bringing forth Armageddon onto the Earth and destroying all life, presumably so he can increase his amount of doomed souls forced to do his bidding. He unleashed his hellish legions both to possess humans as means to coerce them to do his bidding (as shown in the case of Jonah Hill's possession) and wreak widespread havoc and kill remaining survivors in the ongoing Apocalypse.

He was voiced by Jason Stone.

Biography[]

Unleashed[]

During the apocalypse, Satan was released from hell alongside other demons where they proceed to either corrupt or slaughter unfortunate humans who caught within their path for destruction. While physically unseen, a picture of Satan was shown in Franco's Bible as Jay proposing that the biblical apocalypse has befallen the whole world.

Encountering Jay and Seth[]

Though his presence can be felt throughout the entire film with his demons ravaging the world and even referenced by Jay, Satan does not make his onscreen debut until the film's climax. He finally appears before Jay and Seth not long after escaping Danny McBride. The humans first notice the earth trembling from Satan's hoofsteps before seeing him towering over the distant buildings. They both repeatedly utter their shock at Satan's sheer size and disorientation from the shaking as he walks toward them, up until Satan takes his final step, collapsing a nearby overpass. When Satan lowers and begins releasing his eel heads, Jay frantically begins apologizing to Seth.

Fortunately, both celebrities' reconciliation and admission of their past wrongdoings earns them their Rapture for Heaven. Jay's divine beam appears right before one of Satan's eel heads can devour them both. The appearance of the beam destroys the eel head and causes it to recoil, sending Satan falling onto his back and sending up an immense cloud of dust.

At first, only Jay earns his salvation as Seth hasn't completely coming into terms with his past wrongdoings, prompting the former to take the latter with him as he ascends to heaven. Because of this, the process of Jay's rapture becomes interrupted. Satan rises back to his full height right about when the two are eye-level with him. Another eel head again attempts to devour them but is unable to break through Jay's divine beam. Unwilling to burden Jay, Seth comes to terms with his own wrongdoings and fate before letting go, plummeting into Satan's mouth as Jay helplessly watches.

Unfortunately for Satan, Seth's confession in the middle of his heroic sacrifice granted him his own salvation. His holy beam quickly lets him join his best friend for the Gates of Heaven. To add insult to injury, during Seth's unexpected rapture, his holy beam cuts through his lower jaw. As Satan slowly flails about, the beam makes its way down the surface of his chest and belly, until it reaches his groin, exploding his testicles and slicing his penis off. His massive penis falls onto a parking garage (which the organ easily overtakes in length), demolishing it instantly and shaking the earth.

As Seth rises up with Jay, the demon lord collects his severed penis from the ground. He is last seen holding his flopping penis in one hand and his bleeding crotch in the other, roaring in dismay. Since he survived this ordeal, it can either be assumed that Satan resumed his ongoing rampage or had died from blood loss and ended the apocalypse.

Personality[]

Satan is described as an immensely powerful and dangerous demon who cares about nothing but himself as well as caring about total destruction of the entire world. He is depicted as a ruthless, destructive, heartless, cold-hearted, sadistic, genocidal and murderous creature and his desire to wipe out all life and humanity is what led to his presumed demise by getting castrated by Seth Rogen's rapture and possibly bleeding to death when attempting to kill him and Jay Baruchel on their way to Heaven.

Appearance[]

This is the End satan as seen bible

Satan as seen in James Franco's bible.

As depicted in James Franco's bible, Satan takes the appearance of a hoofed-legged, humanoid horned demon with four eel-like heads protruding from his back.

Said depiction later proven to be accurate as Seth and Jay discover in the film's climax, though to both celebrities' horror, Satan is revealed to be kaiju-sized. His body is comprised of hardened magma stones, has a long sized shaft and it is unknown that he carries a singular testicle or a small scrotum due to the narrowness and the view angles, the genital however, sways as he walks. Proportionally, he has a muscular physique and wide thighs, burly arms, long legs and large hands compared to a regular human proportions. Also, his blood is lava. His eyes and mouth glows lava as well as the eels have their mouths glowing too.

Expectably, his every footstep causes the ground to shake violently, enough to unseat large boulders and chunks of debris. His hooves tower over buildings, with hooves that occupy a large fraction of a city block. His hooves alone are taller than an overpass, which he can collapse simply by stomping near it.

Satan can summon his eel heads at will and uses them to more conveniently consume prey on the ground or in the air. In the film, he drops down on one knee and punches the ground when he prepares to do so. He tucks them away when walking around.
