Winners don't lose!
~ Rumble McSkirmish's catchphrase.
Never underestimate that I have punches!
~ Rumble to Dipper
My entire journey, a lie. My honor has been insulted. Sensei warned me not to join the path of evil. The boy has led me astray from my teachings. If Robbie V is not my last stage, then it must be... YOOOOOOOOOUUUUU!!!!!
~ Rumble to Dipper

Rumble McSkirmish (Rudo McGolpes in the Latin America version) is a minor antagonist of the Disney Channel/Disney XD animated series Gravity Falls.

He is a fictional fighting video game character that was brought to life by Dipper Pines by inputting a secret code in an arcade.

He was voiced by Brian Bloom, who also played Black Mask from Batman: Arkham videogame series, and Taskmaster in Marvel's Spider-Man.

Appearance[]

Rumble is made up of pixels, which makes him look "fuzzy". According to Dipper, his pixels are pretty sharp. He wears a yellow mullet shirt with a red band around his head and is shirtless. He is very muscular and strong. He has duct tape on his arms and wears cut indigo pants and a red belt similar to a bandage around his head. He has 屁, the Chinese character for "butt" and "fart", tattooed on his back. He wears an eye patch over his left eye and wears no shoes. As the picture shows, he is constantly moving, even when he is standing.

Biography[]

Dipper found a secret code on the side of the Fight Fighters arcade. After inputting it, true to the paranormal nature of the town, the arcade flashed in an unexpected radiant light and a voice shouted: "SELECT YOUR CHARACTER!". Dipper mumbled out Rumble's full name as the fighter materialized in front of him; he saw this as an opportunity to have a chance in a fight he had gotten into with his love rival, Robbie. However, it turns back on him when he has to lie to Rumble with the only scenario that sets Rumble off (and quite possibly the only one he seems to understand due to his programming limitations): That Robbie had killed Dipper's father, this sets the pixellated fighter on a rampage in pursue of Robbie until he can "Finish him".

Dipper chases after him and a scared Robbie in an attempt to explain the situation to the videogame character, he finally corners it in the same place he was going to fight Robbie, just before Rumble delivers the finishing blow, Dipper intervenes and admits he had lie to Rumble, knowing that this would mean that he would have to fight him instead. Rumble feels betrayed and dishonored so he challenges Dipper instead, Dipper accepts, even after being told by Soos not to do it as he would get sacked easily. Rumble unleashes a series of videogame themed attacks, Dipper dodges most and even counters at some times but the videogame fighter proves too much for him and ends up getting trashed in a Super Power Ninja Turbo Neo Ultra Hyper Mega Multi Alpha Meta Extra Uber Prefix Combo. After Rumble won, he finished off with his catchphrase, "Winners don't lose!" Dipper told him not to bet on it because as soon as he was over with his mission, the mandatory endgame GAME OVER screen appeared, which scared him. He grieved his last as he was erased from reality.

He next makes a small appearance "Soos and the Real Girl". When they witness Giffany on the tv screen, Dipper gets reminded of what happened with him. Soos thought it was ok since, unlike Rumble, Giffany was stuck on tv screen. However, it turned out she had the ability to take control of electronic. Not only that, but when Rumble himself appeared and challenged her to a fight, Giffany shocked him as if he was nothing.

He was later seen in "Weirdmageddon Part 1," during Weirdmageddon, when many video game characters in the arcade are released from their games by a rogue weirdness wave. However, when noticing the chaos that the dream demon Bill Cipher has caused, Rumble, along with most of the supernatural creatures who opposed Bill's regime, sided with the resistance.

As seen in "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls", Rumble, seemingly injured, takes a refugee camp at Mystery Shack, along with a remaining resistance led by Stan, and has gained a different outlook on life, calling himself "Humble McSkirmish". Once Bill Cipher is dead (after Stan sacrifices his memories to kill the dream demon and save the world) Rumble, along with the other supernatural resistances who were released into the real world by Bill, are vanishing back to their home world, bidding his allies a farewell by giving them a thumbs up and gaining a 100 points.

Do not be afraid. Weirdmageddon has taught me that there are some battles that I cannot win. I am now Humble McSkirmish.

Trivia[]

  • Rumble McSkirmish is either based off Ryu and Ken from the Street Fighter series. In addition, when Dipper and Wendy play with him at the arcade, Rumble appears to be fighting a fighter based off M. Bison, the main villain of the Street Fighter series. Although, another fighter is named N-Buffalo, Dr. Karate's name is similar to Mr. Karate from the SNK fighting game series.
    • Since Fight Fighters asked Dipper to choose his fighter, it can be assumed to have the ability to create the rest of the fighters in the game too. They include Joe Zambique, Czar-barian, Admiral Big-Calves, Beastor, and Suggessica, apparently based on Dee Jay, Ivan Drago, Guile and Cammy, Blanka, and Chun-Li. In spite of this, none of them were seen during Weirdmageddon.
  • Rumble was designed by the pixel artist Paul Robertson, who also created the sprites for Giffany in the same series.
  • Though Rumble points out that he can only eat food if they put it at his feet due his programming (like when Dipper feeds him with a taco), he is later depicted as drinking a punch bowl much like a normal person despite that he should have put it on the floor to consume it.
  • He is the final boss in the Disney flash game Rumble's Revenge.
  • In Bigfest2016, Alex Hirsch revealed Rumble is dating Giffany in the arcade.
  • The Blind Eye Society erased Robbie's memory of being attacked by Rumble and saved by Dipper.
