Noctpteran ("Night Wing" in ancient Greek) is a giant mesmerizing moth which dwells in the Demon World and makes its home underground. She is both a boss and a minor villainess in the video game Devil May Cry 2.
Appearance[]
Noctpteran is a giant moth-like monster that has a feminine human-like head adorned with 3 small emerald orbs on it and huge golden wings.
History[]
This creature simply dwells in the Demon World and makes its home underground.
It constantly lays eggs that hatch into Larva. Its spore has the power to paralyze enemies, and its wings are strong enough to push an unaware human from a great distance.
Noctpteran is fought in the game by both Dante in Mission 10 and Lucia in Mission 6. It is unknown which of the two heroes encounters this entity first, but after the battle with both characters, the demonic moth is presumed dead.
Powers and Abilities[]
Noctpteran's spore has the power to paralyze enemies, and its wings are strong enough to push an unaware human from a great distance. it constantly lays eggs that hatch into Larva. Noctpteran does not attack directly, but it will continue to lay eggs that hatch into Larvas, which will attack. Taking out Noctpteran quickly will reduce the number of Larva spawned. However, Noctpteran is fairly weak. Her children pose more of a threat than her.

- A demonic moth similar to the Noctpteran appears in the first episode of the Devil May Cry: The Animated Series. It takes on the appearance of a movie poster that mesmerizes Patty Lowell until Dante shoots it several times, killing it.
- Noctpteran bears a resemblance to the moths in Resident Evil: Code Veronica.
- In the Devil May Cry HD Collection, the player will achieve the award "That's A Big Mother..." for defeating Noctpteran.
