Maximus I.Q. is the main antagonist of the Canadian TV series, Atomic Betty.

He was voiced by Colin Fox.

Background

The third in a legacy of evildoers, Maximus I.Q. is one of the most sinister beings in the galaxy. A megalomaniac with an ego the size of Galactus, Maximus's main goal is the conquest of the universe, as well as complete his collection of duck-themed objects. But like luckily for us, Atomic Betty is the only thing standing in his way. No matter what evil scheme Maximus comes up with, you can always bet Betty'll be the one who crushes it. He gets very mad if someone else defeats Betty, not him.

His downfall is always his ego and his own incompetence that gets the best of him.

Personality

Maximus I.Q. has only one driving ambition in life: to rule the galaxy. He presents enough of a danger that he is Betty's most annoying and frequent nemesis, with a cat-like appearance and a somewhat regal bearing (even if he's the only one who believes so). Like any other cat, however, he hates getting wet, to the point where it is enough to distract him from his schemes. He is also ill-tempered, self-important, overbearing, untrustworthy, scheming, two-faced, troublesome, vain, abusive, selfish, and thievish. However, despite his fiendish and merciless supervillainy, Maximus has a secret love: ceramic ducks. It is shown frequently in the series how he pampers and mollycoddles them like babies.

Trivia

• Though it is debatable and despite him being based on Ming the Merciless, the robe in which Maximus always wears is similar to that of Dracula's from the 1992 live action film Bram Stoker's Dracula, in which both had worn a long red robe.
• Maximus's voice actor, Colin Fox is not strange to extraterrestrial characters; he also voiced the Watcher on the short lived Silver Surfer animated series. He also played the Mask Maker in the Goosebumps franchise in the two part episodes, the Haunted Mask and the Haunted Mask II.
