Javed Khan is the overarching antagonist of the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire.
He was portrayed by Mahesh Manjrekar.
Personality[]
Javed is a sinister, abusive, ruthless and evil Mumbai crime lord who rules a slum with an iron fist. He hires gangsters to work for him, employs Salim as one of his thuggish henchmen and forces Jamal's girlfriend Latika to be one of his concubines and physically abuses her. He does not love her genuinely, but keeps her as his possession. While he is as greedy as his enemy Maman, he never reached the level of wickedness of the former, as he never harmed children.
Biography[]
After going through a period of searching, Jamal finds Salim and Latika under Javed's thumb. Jamal and Latika are reunited at the train station, but she is captured by Javed's minions, led by Salim. Javed moves to another house, but Latika escapes once again. When Jamal wins the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Javed realizes that Salim has helped Latika escape and confronts him in a bathroom. Salim turns against Javed and shoots him in the chest, killing him, only to die at the hands of his men.

- Although Jamal's brother Salim is a bump in the road on his journey, it is Javed who is the real villain.
