Eva (known as Ima in non-English dubs) is the main antagonist of Puppy In My Pocket: Adventures In Pocketville.
Eva is a Siamese cat, though is actually one of the two members of a rare cat breed, Felis aulicus. She is the twin sister of Princess Ava (Ami), monarch of the Pocket Kingdom, who constantly schemes to remove her from the throne and put herself in her place because of her extreme jealousy of her.
She was voiced by Marcella Silvestri in the original Italian version, Reba West and Katherine Wilson in the original English dub, and Joanna Ruiz in the official US and UK English dubs.
Description[]
Appearance[]
Eva is a cat with beige fur and slate gray colorpoint markings reminiscent of a Siamese’s. She has blue eyes, with a beauty mark near her left one. She initially wears a purple collar adorned with spikes, but during the episodes following "The Friendship Ceremony", she wears a shard of the Friendship Heart tied in a string around her neck instead.
Personality[]
Eva is a feline full of malice, cruelty, and hatred, as she has a strong dislike towards everyone but herself, including her own lackeys and especially her sister Ava. However, she is also quite a stereotypical villain, speaking in a loud, exaggerated voice, notable catchphrases, and having a raspy guffaw. She is also very arrogant, prioritizing herself over all others. Because of her extreme envy over Ava and her strong desire to become the new monarch of her kingdom, she has developed an obsession over the Friendship Heart, as she is overprotective over her half of the jewel and gets angry whenever anyone else, including her lackeys, try to snatch it.
She is quite aggressive whenever she isn't in a good mood, and is prone to lashing out at Zull and Gort if they fail to bring her what she wants or question what she is about to do. She despises anything that is bright, colorful, or sweet, including calling the Friendship Ceremony “sickly sweet” and repulsing at the concept of love.
She is very clever, always coming up with plans to make sure Kate and her friends don’t get to her half of the Friendship Heart, a Magic Drop, or even a Chosen Pet. However, her lackeys often fumble at carrying out her plans, and thus very seldom succeeds in her goals.
She is also one incredibly brave cat, remaining stoic and straight-faced in situations such as when she explored the Bottomless Cave, encountered Durillia, or entered the Valley of No-One while her lackeys tremble in fear, as she is very determined in her goals.
Eva lacks empathy, as she is almost never seen helping anyone herself, instead letting her underlings Zull and Gort do the helping for her if she believes it is needed in the situation. In “New Friends”, after Krakia gets stuck in a tree and Zull and Gort fall into the hole meant for Kate and her friends, Eva simply flees once she knows that she failed in her plan that time. In “The Last Piece”, when Zull and Gort push Puppy Trotter Sketch into the wishing well, despite this being a potential threat to his life, Eva doesn’t care about saving him.
Eva also somewhat has a decent amount of strength and stamina, as shown when she presumably attempted to kill Ava by prying open a tree branch with a rope to let it fall on her and the countless times she fled after her plans fail, though she often leaves the work of setting up traps and moving heavy objects to Zull and Gort, who are noticeably stronger than she is. This also shows that she is quite lazy as well, letting all three of her lackeys set up the plan and refusing to help them.
Biography[]
Little is known about Eva's backstory and it is very much ambiguous whether or not Eva was evil from the very beginning or if she's just a well-intentioned extremist like what Ava thinks. But what is known is that Eva injured her sister's paw with a tree branch she broke off thanks to a rope tied to it in a flashback.
Eva is ill-tempered, selfish, and very bossy towards her gang. She has three lackeys, two unintelligent dogs of large breeds named Zull and Gort, and a clever crow named Krakia, and she does not treat them well at all.
Eva is the sister of Princess Ava, the benevolent monarch of the Pocket Kingdom. Eva longs to rule the kingdom instead of her younger sister Ava, and has desired to overthrow Ava so she can accomplish that.
Due to an accident caused by her own making, Eva sends Ava to the real world in exchange for Kate, a ten-year-old girl who was supposed to be one of the children given a Pocketville pet. Without Ava in the way, Eva schemes to cause trouble for both her sister and Kate, though her schemes always mess up thanks to the incompetence of her lackeys.
Later on she makes a pact with the Pet Buster, an erratic old man who captures strays and sells them in auctions, to help her achieve her goal as becoming monarch once she gets the Friendship Heart, and in return she will let him have all the pets he desires. She also tells him that Ava is a special cat from a very rare breed that needs to be contained in one of his cages, or else her plans would fail once again.
But that alliance with the Pet Buster wouldn't last. When Ava successfully returns to Pocketville thanks to the help of Kate, Magic, and the Royal Guards finding Magic Drops for the fountain, Eva gets switched up as well and ends up in Ava's place. It is then that she gets captured by the Pet Buster instead.
Trivia[]
- Ima is backwards for Ami, the original name of Eva’s sister Princess Ava.
- There have been many fan redesigns of Eva due to her unrealistic nature as a villain, such as giving her more redeeming factors or even turning her into a reformed character.
