See, this is the part where I would volunteer to be the girl on the billboard, and you guys would find some reason not to, and compare me to some sort of animal like a giant bird.
~ Dee Reynolds
Good luck with those kegs, boners.
~ Dee Reynolds

Deandra "Dee" Reynolds, nicknamed Sweet Dee, is one of the five main protagonists of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, one of the "Gang" members, and twin sister of Dennis Reynolds.

She is portrayed by actress Kaitlin Olson, who also portrayed Tatiana Krumula in The Heat. In the series' pilot, she was portrayed by Jordan Reid.

Personality[]

I'm living the high life, so suck on that, white stains.
~ Dee, to the rest of the Gang.

She is a Caucasian liberal who lives inside an apartment room by herself with her cat. She has really bad problems when it comes to anger; even beating people up. She is proven to dislike people with disabilities (for instance, she abused and cheated on a white rapper because she thought he was "retarded"). However, the other gang members often ignore her because she is female. She is a terrible waitress and even called somebody a "faggot" once when he ordered wine. She also makes them pay more than they should, despite that she can't make a simple drink.

She, along with the Cool Kids and the other members of The Gang, are really cruel to Rickety Cricket.

Originally she was written to be the 'voice of reason', an old cliché when it comes to the only female member of a group, but after a few episodes Kaitlin helped the writers with her character and has been shown to be just as bad as the male members of The Gang.

Like Dennis, she has the ability to seduce many members of the opposite sex and often ends up using them when she is drunk. She sometimes gets men drunk in order to sleep with them. Mostly because of how often she is berated and belittled by The Gang and others, including her mother who was extremely abusive towards her, she can withstand brutal emotional abuse. She has dressed up as a male a few times to meet various goals.

She still considers Frank her father or at least a father figure, calling him 'dad' on several occasions, even after finding out they aren't biologically related, probably partly out of habit.

Villainous Actions[]

  • Dee bribed the Waitress with Charlie's notebook in order to hang out with her.
  • It was implied in one episode that she burned her college roommate alive just because she was annoying.
  • Dee as donned blackface and brownface several time throughout the show. Due to a blackface incident in Hollywood around 2020, these episodes were later taken down.
  • When Mac and Dee got stuck in a waterslide, they pushed one of the kids out of the slide when he was passed, resulting in the kid presumably drowning.
  • Held a funeral for a fake baby.
  • Dee had sex with Charlie. During a sexual harassment seminar a few episodes later, Charlie claimed that Dee had in fact raped him.
  • Dee has manipulated men into sleeping with her.
  • She was the one responsible for what happened to Rickety Cricket. When she confessed her love to him, he left the priesthood for her, but when he came to her, she rejected him. Knowing that he could not get back into the priesthood, he ended up turning into a street rat.
  • In Season 15, it was revealed that she and Charlie helped provide the costumes that Jake Angeli and the protesters wore during the attack on the Capitol in 2021.
  • When she and the Gang tried to reactivate the old Risk E. Rats mascots, a fire broke out, injuring several people. In order to avoid questioning, they slipped away.
  • Arguably the cruellest thing Dee has ever was when she tricked a male stripper into grinding his junk in his daughter's face, to get revenge after he called her his "rock bottom".
  • Dee, Dennis and Frank started a mobile experience for their bar, but after the customers felt uncomfortable, they let them out but not before stealing their wallets and phones to prevent from ratting on them to the cops.
  • In a sequence in an episode depicting what the Gang would do when held up by a robber, Dee attempts to reason with the robber, revealed to be a woman. She is successful and takes the robber's gun, before shooting Mac, Charlie, Dennis and Frank and ratting on the robber to the police.
  • In "Charlie Work", Dee and the Gang (save for Charlie who was ensuring the bar pass a health inspection) tried to exploit a loophole in the airlines system: they used Frank's credit card to buy airline tickets which they used to purchase 400 steaks. Since they knew that the delivery company delivered all kinds of animal produce, their plan was to contaminate the steaks using chicken feathers by rubbing chickens onto the steaks. Next they planned to repackage the steaks and return for actual cash.
  • She and Mac attempted to cyberstalk a patron of a gin bar they were at the previous night all because he shushed them.
  • Dee and the Gang have given alcohol to minors which resulted in them getting into a mess with their patrons love lives.
  • She and Dennis posed as crack addicts in a failed attempt to qualify for welfare, ironically leading to them actually becoming crack addicts.
  • After destroying the Jewish man's building, she was assigned to coach a kid's football team with Mac. In order to ensure a win, she and Mac encouraged to kids to be violent towards the other team.
  • After Charlie passed out due to extreme bloodloss after Frank's CharDee MacDennis round, she and Dennis callously destroyed Charlie and Mac's game pieces despite his hospitalization.
  • Tried to assault Mac and Charlie because they crashed her car at Maureen Ponderosa's wedding.
  • Dee and Mac tricked Dennis into sleeping with gay men in order to change his opinion on whether or not their bar should remain a gay bar.
  • In "The Gang Group Dates", Dee seduces several men and then gave them low ratings on a dating site (even if she did like them) purely for a borderline sadistic pleasure. Inspired by the D.E.N.N.I.S system, she creates her own D.E.E system to seduce men: Do them, Establish low rating and Empower.
  • Whilst working at the Oldies Rock Cafe, Dee performs a trick called a "double-drop": she uses the same bill for two tables and then pockets the cash for the other one. The Waitress calls this out to be stealing, and Dee even tries asking her to turn a blind eye to this action, despite knowing that the Waitress could lose her job.
  • To get into a club, Dee proceeded to mercilessly insult the bouncer, with her insults shocking even Dennis.
  • After the Waitress saved her from drowning in a bog, Dee pulled her into the bog and refused to save her from drowning in it.

Trivia[]

  • Dee's actress Kaitlin Olson is married to Rob McElhenney, the actor that played Mac.
  • Originally, before the show was released, Dee was going to be written as the "straight man" of the show and the only normal member of the Gang, a characteristic that can be seen in Jordan Reid's portrayal of the character in the series' pilot. After Kaitlin Olson took over the role, she requested the writers to make the Dee just as depraved as the other characters as she felt the left out of the fun and thought the character was a tad cliché.
