~ Another famous quote of Dr. Robotnik, in Lovesick Sonic.
I'll have to give myself a promotion!
~ Another famous quote of Robotnik, in Tails' New Home.

Dr. Ivo Robotnik, better known as Dr. Robotnik or simply known as Robotnik, is the main antagonist of the American animated series Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and the archenemy of the famous Sonic the Hedgehog. This is the first cartoon animated incarnation of the same character Dr. Robotnik nowadays commonly known as Dr. Eggman.

He is a more comical version of his video game counterpart, who similarly desires to conquer Mobius and destroy Sonic the Hedgehog. While he is nowhere near as dangerous as his many other counterparts, he has made up for it with his melodramatic flair and absolute refusal to give up despite his numerous failings. He was also quite possibly one of the most insane Robotniks who ever graced the screen and has become both loved (or hated) by both fans and non-fans alike.

In the pilot, he was voiced by Jim Cummings, who would also voice his Sonic SATAM counterpart. In the series, he was voiced by the late British singer and actor Long John Baldry, who also voiced Komplex in Bucky O'Hare and the Toad Wars.

Biography[]

Past[]

It is implied that Ivo Robotnik was born as a member of a long line of Robotniks. When he was an infant, Robotnik lived in a house in Chaos City with his mother, Momma Robotnik. Back then, his favorite toy and best friend was his teddy bear, Fuzzy Wuzzy, and he would still love that bear to this day. However, when his family moved, the Fuzzy Wuzzy was left in Chaos City, much for Robotnik's frustration. As a child, he also captured his nanny and became dictator of the nursery. When he was young, he also had a cockroach pet named Mr. Bobo, one of the very few beings the doctor actually liked, though they parted ways for unknown reasons. Since then, Robotnik would miss his pet a lot, and cry every time he thought about him.

Growing up, Robotnik was depicted as a fairly typical bully, and was plotting world domination as early as high school. During this time, he was in love with his classmate, Lucinda. However, this feeling was not mutual. Instead, she was more attracted to a boy named Lucas. Because of this, Robotnik tried repeatedly to catch Lucas, although this made Lucinda lose all interest in the doctor. At some point, however, he successfully kidnapped Lucas and trapped him on his property for about thirty years. Though he was expelled from that high school for unspecified reasons (though it is implied terrorizing his classmates, especially Lucas, contributed to this), Robotnik did attend higher learning at an academy for villains, and graduated with a diploma as a certified evil genius alongside fellow evil mastermind Captain John Paul Memo. Five years before the present events, Robotnik also lost patience with the loony behavior of his cousin, the deranged Dr. Warpnik, and exiled him to the Warp of Confusion.

Perhaps some of Dr. Robotnik's earliest schemes involved building a giant robot and destroying a building with a laser cannon, plans that apparently proved to be successful. However, his other schemes would be thwarted by a teenage hedgehog named Sonic. Apparently, Robotnik won several trophies and awards for his villainy. Also, despite interference from Sonic, Robotnik supposedly managed to conquer parts of Mobius over time.

At one point, Robotnik called many of his old bounty hunter Badniks and offered them a billion Mobiums if they managed to catch Sonic. Despite the robots' best efforts of catching Sonic, they were all destroyed by the hedgehog. Frustrated with this, Dr. Robotnik decided to use his Robo-Matic Machine to create the Super Special Sonic Search and Smash Squad and thwart his enemy once and for all. The first member of the S.S.S.S.S.S. Robotnik created was Scratch, a rooster-like Badnik, and when he attempted to clone the robot, he produced Grounder. Robotnik sent these new robots to catch Sonic and Tails. When they succeeded in catching Tails (while Sonic gave himself up for his friend's safety), they called the doctor and told him about the events. In response, Robotnik told them that he would go to the robots' location. However, Sonic and Tails managed to escape, and tricked Dr. Robotnik into smashing his own Egg-O-Matic to his own robots.

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Dr. Ivo Robotnik is portrayed as an egotistical mad scientist and supervillain who has terrorized Mobius for years and although powerful enough to hold his own fortress (complete with a large gold statue of himself outside), he never amassed the power of any of his other versions. However, he was just as persistent—if not more so—and had a true love of villainy. He was also the only version of Robotnik to reach super forms, such as Super Robotnik and Supreme High Robotnik. He speaks in an upper-class British accent and rolls the Rs in his lines.

He is also extremely extravagant in personality, having gone as far as creating a giant golden statue of himself that takes pride and place right outside his main stronghold.

Dr. Robotnik was also a genius despite his often idiotic decisions and created many hench-bots to aid him in his schemes to either take over Mobius, destroy Sonic or generally cause trouble, the most well-known of these hench-bots would be the trio of Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts, who served their master loyally but were often in the firing line of his wrath should things go wrong. Especially since his own robots tend to be too stupid and useless to successfully catch Sonic.

Indeed, one of Robotnik's major weaknesses in the series was being extremely arrogant and wrathful to a fault, having his shortcomings with defeating Sonic, and almost always placing the blame for any failure on his underlings. He also despised anything nice and praises any negative trait, as he took pride in being called "ghastly", "fiendish" or "generally unpleasant").

Dr. Robotnik also had an equally insane mother who went by the name of Mama Robotnik but worse. She was often cruel to her son and may very well have been the reason he turned to villainy in the first place as she was criminally insane and hated anything normal or pleasant (she also considered her son a complete failure despite his many attempts to please her), she may have always been abusive to him which might have caused his behavior. In her debut appearence ''Momma Robotnik's Birthday'' when she was (faking) sobbing about her son being a villain, she said to Tails that Robotnik was a such a nice baby until he lost his favourite stuffed toy named ''Fuzzy Wuzzy'' when they moved house and that what made him turn bad, but she was most likely lying about all of that as she told the story to lure Tails into a trap at her old home. At the end of the episode, Robotnik acting childish and worried about his toy being destroyed by the electricity, had him begging Sonic and Tails to save it and promised to turn good, causing his mother to furiously whack him about promising to do so.

Despite the more comedic tone of the character to befit the series' style like his humorous insults, hammy mannerisms and failing to achieve most of his plans for example, Robotnik has demonstrated that he was capable of committing reprehensible actions regardless of being inefficient, angry and goofy. Notable cases include the episode "Mass Transit Trouble" involved him sabotaging mass transit systems across Mobius with bombs that would kill all present-and theoretically distant enough that Sonic couldn't save everyone. In the clip show episode "Hero of the Year", he forced Sonic into a trap and caged all of his friends aboard a sinking yacht, leaving them to be drowned.

Not to mention the countless times he kidnapped someone, notably Tails and Professor Von Schlemmer, and either forced them to work on a weapon intended for use against Sonic or threatened to kill them; showing how much of a formidable streak he can have if Sonic isn't in his way. One particularly bad case was the episode "Best Hedgehog", which involved him keeping his perceived romantic rival Lucas successfully trapped in a cage for thirty years because Lucinda, a woman Robotnik loved and desired since he was a teenager, cared about Lucas and wanted nothing to do with Robotnik.

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine[]

Dr Robotnik Mean Bean Machine

Dr. Robotnik as he appears in Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.

While most games feature a different version of Dr. Robotnik, the only game to ever have this particular incarnation of Eggman to appear in was Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. He serves as the titular main antagonist and the final boss of the game with his own music (every other opponent has the same music), one who provides exposition for why he needs beans from Beanville as a part of his plan for conquering Mobius. He is also the only character to have his own voice in the game: Laughing when he wins and yelling when he loses (provided by Max Taylor).

Sonic the Comic[]

In the British Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions, Robotnik originally had his (Western box art) classic games design until when his two image consultants Thomas and Miller claimed that they wanted to give Robotnik a make-over, causing the doctor to go livid and throws them out of his office, although he later admits that they were right in a way, agreeing his current body has served its purpose and now it's time for a change... He encases himself in a giant egg, preparing for his transformation which occured in issues 21 and 22, the new body would become the one from this television series. This change was permanent.

Sonic in Sydney[]

RobotnikPuppet

Robotnik's puppet used in the revamped puppet version of the show.

Robotnik later reappeared in Sonic in Sydney, a live show from the now defunct Sega World Sydney amusement park. In the musical, Robotnik escapes Mobius with the Chaos Emeralds and makes a new base in Sydney, Australia, prompting Sonic, Tails and Sally Acorn to follow him. After spying on his enemies, Robotnik devises a plan to kidnap Sally by giving her a pair of "Eggboots" and sings the song Give Me Chaos. After capturing Sally by freezing her, Robotnik unsuccessfully attempts to woo her, causing Sonic, who discovered Robotnik's lair thanks to the audience, to dress up as "Doctor Sonicstition" and offer him a love potion. After drinking the love potion Robotnik, proclaims his love for Sally, only to fall asleep as the "love potion" was actually a sedative. After Sonic disposes of his bomb, Robotnik escapes and presumably goes back to Mobius. He was voiced by Adrian Payne in the stage show, then was puppeteered by Dennis White in the revamped puppet version.

Personality[]

A true showman at heart, Robotnik is a textbook example of a self-absorbed and vain narcissist who is so excited over the fact he exists, that he cannot fathom how any of those around him do not also share this same excitement over his existence. Like an ignored child, he seldom speaks calmly, and his default vocal setting is shouting, often accompanied by a lot of body language. He tends to dance, make exaggerated movements, he enjoys rolling his rest many times just to add to his energetic mien, and his sentences are tuneful at times.

He appears to have histrionic personality disorder, which explains why his "evil" schemes are less about inflicting pain on people or causing actual suffering, but instead about spreading his glorious visage or changing the landscape to something more appealing to him in sadistic, single-minded and petty ways, even if he seeks to have all power and control over Mobius in any shape and form.

For all of his intelligence and cunning, he tends to have many moments of being immature, silly, lazy and foolish, as his plans tend to backfire due to falling for all of Sonic's obvious tricks, stalling in his evil plans of action, and letting his anger and his overinflated ego get the best of him, which causes him to be humiliated and ridiculed by many. He also has a temperamental and pompous attitude, as he tends to express how he's aware of how evil he is, how he enjoys being evil, and often expresses his genuine hatred for Sonic. He even toys and gloats at Sonic's misery instead of killing him as he intended to. Robotnik is also very hypocritical as he loses it at minions for being incompetent despite the fact that he is incompetent himself.

While largely a bumbling and incompetent fool, Robotnik can at times, both intentionally and unintentionally, be dangerous. His sadistic schemes often cause collateral damage, which Robotnik doesn't care about, and when he's sincerely angered, he can occasionally concoct a deadly plan or even physically attack anyone. In the rare occasions Robotnik manages to emerge as a valid threat, his potential for harm and destruction is quite valid. Fortunately, he never maintains power for very long. He is also so bossy and violent, that he also treats Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts rather cruelly through physical assault and verbal abuse.

He also happens to be cunning, manipulative, tyrannical and devious enough to pose a serious problem in any episode. As he has succeeded in deceiving Mobians into helping him with fake charisma and often uses his temperament as a use to force talented Mobians into helping him succeed in his misdeeds or even working for him like Professor Caninestein during the first episode of the "Quest For The Chaos Emerald" saga, sausage people in "Too Tall Tails", and even forced an innocent rat to impersonate Sonic by threatening his parents' lives being harmed in Robotnik's lab at his expense of working as a villainous doppelgänger of Sonic to sabotage the real Sonic's reputation as a noble hero in the episode "Pseudo Sonic". He would even pretend to be nice to people and faking about redeeming himself like to the citizens of Wienerville by giving them a bunch of gifts to make them take his side and accuse Sonic of turning Tails giant on purpose.

He is also generally a short-tempered, rude, petty, entitled man who forces people to have things done his way, even if he has to fake kindness and charm to make Robotnik's plans work. Despite this, Robotnik does appear to have a soft spot very deep inside his heart despite what his malicious and wrathful exterior implies. He does have some polite moments in social interactions, and he cares deeply for his childhood toys like Fuzzy Wuzzy, even when he once begged Sonic to protect him from damage despite going against his plans to torment Sonic. On a similar note, he misses his old pet Mr. Bobo, and cried whenever he thinks of him. He even created his own son under the name Robotnik Jr in the episode of the same name and with an addition of loving and caring about him until he betrayed him and took Sonics side and turned to heroism with the likes of his daughter-like figure he created named Breezie.

Appearance[]

Dr. Robotnik is an obese, bald human with a large, ragged reddish-orange mustache, a drooping, pink nose, and fair skin. He also appears to have conjoined black eyeballs (much like Sonic's eyeballs), with red irises and black pupils, a conical head shape, and a round body with wiry legs.

His signature outfit is a red, yellow, and black bodysuit with gray lines on the sleeves, gray gloves with metal gauntlets, gray tights, and red boots. He usually wears a yellow cape to go along with his main outfit. As a teenager, Robotnik's appearance was largely the same, with the exception of having facial pimples, and a small bowl haircut with dark orange hair. He wears a red and yellow shirt over a gray shirt that exposes his bellybutton, blue shorts, and red and black boots.

While he loosely resembles his games counterpart, his appearance still has a great representation to it for having a long crazy moustache, a bald head, a drooping pink nose, an obese state, along with his attire keeping the same iconic colors such as red, black, and yellow. His black eyes also originated from the one of the western artworks for the classic Sonic games. Another nod could be that he occasionally wears his yellow cape worn by his classic design (always in the credits sequence).

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Robotics/Engineering: As he claims, he's too sentimental to get rid of his own creations. That being said, Robotnik's knowledge in robotics and engineering knows no bounds. He can easily repair the metallic scraps and damage onto his robotic minions' spare parts, and Robotnik repairs his own hovercraft when it always gets destroyed. It doesn't help that Robotnik can make his creations have such artificial intelligence that makes them behave like actual living beings with human emotions (ex. Scratch, Grounder, Coconuts, Breezie, Robotnik Jr, and even a robo wife!)
  • Magic-Technology: He has used his I.Q. of 300 as a "evil genius extraordinaire" to create tons of machinery, has his own luxurious fortress, has made two amusement parks with traps in them, and building gadgets like a intelligence helmet in "Grounder the Genius" with a chip that enhances the I.Q. and intellect of a living being, having knowledge in building stupidity machine rays and guns that lower down one's intellect in "Attack on the Pinball Fortress", machines that slow down people's speeds in "Slowww Going", a freeze ray in "Too Tall Tails", and the list goes on and on.
  • Reality-Warping: In the episode "Over the Hill", it's visibly shown that he picks up the ground with his very hands like it's a blanket and can even move a boulder with his own bare hands like it's a hatch door for him.
  • Brute strength: Despite Robotnik relying on his mechanical talents to do the work for him, he happens to have enough brute strength to punch a wolf mailman and make him fly out of Robotnik's fortress in "Magnificent Sonic" (the same episode that shows Robotnik biting a balloon that explodes and then plummeting onto the ground made him easily destroy and vandalize the floor of his own fortress mind you, purely out of rage), and was strong enough to pick up a metallic cage as seen in the episode "Coachnik".
  • Deception: Even before he fails, he has Mobian sausages into believing Sonic was the bad guy and Robotnik being the town's "hero" in the episode "Too Tall Tails" with some serious charisma in how he tells the story. Robotnik also carries this vibe in two episodes "Sonic Gets Thrashed" and "Sonic Is Running" (both episodes that had Robotnik attempt to gain hegemonic influence over Mobius by making Sonic look weak and the commercial seen in "Sonic Is Running" has succeeded in Robotnik brainwashing everyone to follow his influence besides Sonic!).
  • Weapon of choice: As revealed in the episode "Too Tall Tails", Robotnik keeps a collection of torture devices used to interrogate his victims like a whip, two kinds of spiky bats, an axe, a pig-tailed metallic nail, a bear trap, a yellow feather used for "tickle torture", and a bunch of potentially lethal objects. It doesn't help that Robotnik used a wrench to deflect Sonic's homing attack in "Robotnikland".
  • Durability: For a human in a cartoon universe, he is just as immortal and malleable as Wile E. Coyote and Sylvester the Cat themselves in terms of slapstick violence. He has survived getting cactus spines pulled off of his skin, survived from the fire breath of a dragon, has survived from tall heights, having half of a obelisk drop onto him, having the edge of a cage land on his neck (which would've killed him), getting hit by a flying rocket, getting electrocuted, got out of a alligator's mouth (without dying somehow) as well as getting bit by one, getting granitized onto his fortress, managed to survive being trapped under ice (which would have drowned and frozen him to death) survived from hitting a mountain at full speed, getting crushed by a large tree branch, getting zapped by his own lasers (which got him trapped in a wooden coffin with his butt sticking slammed with a detached toilet seat falling on him), getting plenty of apples falling onto him caused by Professor Von Schlemmer, getting violently whacked by Momma Robotnik's umbrella multiple times, having Katella pressing all of her body weight on his neck, spine and throwing him all around the room; slamming into walls, getting himself inflated and exploding by his own robo-wife, and finally in the credits scene being press crushed flat like a pancake by his button-activated heavy weight which was meant to crush Sonic rather than him, and the list just goes on.

Alter-Egos[]

Super Robotnik[]

Superrobotnik

Super Robotnik

This stuff did something TO me! I feel Powerful! I feel, Invincible! I feel, PRETTY! I feel like, FLYING!!! (Levitates and gains momentum upon flying in the air) (Laughter) How about, this? I'm, Super RRRobotnik!! This is like bending spaghetti. (Hearty laughter)
~ Super Robotnik as he flies around and then turns one of his prison bars into a pretzel and grinds it with his teeth in the episode of the same name.

Super Robotnik is a powerful supervillain ego of Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Dr. Robotnik falls into a tub of mixed cleaning chemicals that Coconuts makes but gains superpowers in the process and is mostly invulnerable. His weak spot is his own butt because it didn't get affected by the chemicals like the rest of his body did. After Robotnik transformed, he gave Coconuts a promotion to First Lieutenant for his actions, assigned him to recreate the super-strength formula, and demoted Scratch and Grounder. While Sonic and Tails are being served Chili Dogs for recovering a village's stolen goods, Super Robotnik arrives, first "shaking things up a little", then using his Super Freeze Breath, freezing Sonic and Tails, and throwing them to the frozen wastelands on the planet.

Super Robotnik later arrives back at his fortress, where Scratch and Grounder take inventory of stolen goods. Robotnik later tells them that Sonic should be escaping this very moment. Later, Coconuts has Scratch and Grounder assist him with the formula, but Coconuts creates a monster accidentally. After Scratch and Grounder throw ingredients into the formula that make it explode, Robotnik arrives, blaming them. Shortly after, however, he hears that the Four World Leaders are discussing on how to deal with him. Robotnik later captures the four, and tells Sonic that if he wants them released, he must defeat him in a gladiator battle. Tails later discovers his weak spot: his butt. Professor Von Schlemmer creates a powder that will penetrate Robotnik's butt and slowly negate his powers. He puts the powder on a cushion. Sonic disguises himself as a cushion salesman, and Robotnik steals that cushion from Sonic.

At the Gladiator Colosseum, Coconuts was unable to recreate the formula, so he gave Robotnik a Rump Protector. On the first two events, Robotnik was able to win with ease. However, in the final event, Robotnik's powers were finally neutralized, and he falls into the muck. He later re-promotes Scratch and Grounder so they can pull him out of the muck. But they fall in as well. Sonic wins, and Robotnik says "I hate that hedgehog!" quietly.

Supreme High Robotnik[]

The Supreme High Robotnik

Supreme High Robotnik

Finally! I've got them ALL. My prrrecious chaos emeralds, now all I have to do is place them arrround my neck. IN-vulnerability! IN-visibility!! Immor-tality!!! And, the "Power of Life"!!!! Put them all together! It spells: The Suprrreme High, RRRobotnik! MASTER of THE UNIVEEEEERRSE!!!
~ Dr. Robotnik transforming into the Supreme High Robotnik via the power of the Chaos Emeralds in the last episode of "Quest for the Chaos Emeralds".

The Supreme High Robotnik was the ultimate villain of the AoStH universe and an empowered Dr. Robotnik who gained godlike powers sufficient to rewrite the laws of the universe to his will.

Supreme High Robotnik was formed when the regular Robotnik obtained all 4 Chaos Emeralds and wore them together - upon transforming into a god, Dr. Robotnik hurled Sonic and Tails through time to the Big Bang itself. However, this simply served to create a paradox of sorts that formed five Sonics and five Tails, the team of heroes then united to combat Supreme High Robotnik via stealing back the Chaos Emeralds and using them to undo all the madness Supreme High Robotnik had created.

After traveling through time and space, Dr. Robotnik obtained the four Chaos Emeralds (Invisibility, Invincibility, Immortality, and the Power of Life). By wearing all four emeralds together, Dr. Robotnik transformed into the Supreme High Robotnik. Hoping to finally destroy his enemies, he sent Sonic and Tails through time to the Big Bang. However, they returned with four additional Sonics and Tails from different points in time. The team of heroes that now consisted of ten all worked together to steal back the Emeralds and return them to their original places.

Giant Supreme High Robotnik

The gigantic Supreme High Robotnik demonstrates his cosmic powers including the ability to grow in size.

ALL Mobius, will bow down to your NEW rrruler! The Suprreme High RRRRobotnik! (Sadistic laughter)
~ Robotnik, presenting himself as threatening to Mobius by asserting his large presence to Mobians and terrorizes the Mobians by vandalizing their buildings with his hand, as a attempt to attack them and toy with their misery.

In this state, Robotnik is granted power so great that he claims he could rule the entire universe and possesses several reality warping powers. By wielding all four Chaos Emeralds at the same time, the Supreme High Robotnik has direct access to all the emeralds individual powers at once; With the Chaos Emerald of Invincibility and the Chaos Emerald of Immortality the Supreme High Robotnik is granted immeasurable strength, invulnerability and is successfully immortal, the Chaos Emerald of Invisibility allows him to turn himself invisible and the Chaos Emerald of Life allows him to animate anything. Other powers of the Supreme High Robotnik include sending victims back in time, shooting lasers from his hand palms and changing his size. While the Supreme High Robotnik does not have any weaknesses, he is still vulnerable to surprise attacks, and he will lose all his powers if somebody removes the necklace with the Chaos Emeralds attached to from around his neck.

Villainous Acts[]

  • In "Super Special Sonic Search & Smash Squad", he brings his large group of minions to attack and pursue Sonic by making him appear on a wanted poster.
  • In "Subterranean Sonic", he gets Scratch and Grounder to dig up gold and steal all of the gold from a goldmining mole.
  • In "Lovesick Sonic", he created Breezie to distract Sonic, so he can sink a village into the ground with his drilling machine.

He also made tons of sheep work as his slaves who built a limestone statue of himself while he gets Coconuts to do the job of fanning him.
  • In "Sonic Breakout", he caged an avian artist for making a satirized image of Robotnik himself and forced the artist to make a good-looking drawing of Robotnik to show Mobius how "cool" Robotnik is to Mobius, to a which he then caged Sonic inside of Robotnik's giant weapon-filled, trap-oriented dungeon titled "Robotnik's Rot-Your-Life-Away Dungeons"; which he made so Sonic couldn't escape from at all.
  • In "Trail of the Missing Tails", within a flashback, it's revealed that he banished his own cousin in a surreal world inhabited by fish for being a loony, causing Warpnik to be exiled from Mobius and plotting revenge.
  • In "Close Encounter of the Sonic Kind", he attempts creating the "Electro-Suction Plate" with a magnetic pull strong enough to stop Sonic from running. He also threatened to atomize Tails into molecules unless Sonic surrenders himself to him.
  • In "Momma Robotnik's Birthday", he attempted to destroy a nearby forest as a present for his mother.
  • In "Big Daddy", he captures a baby gorilla's father (who was exiled by his own son) and mind-controlled him to attack Sonic and terrorize Mobius under Robotnik's control.

  • In "Birth of a Salesman", he hired a sleazy salesman to bring him tons of inventions for Scratch, Grounder and Coconuts to use and encapture Sonic and Tails (which led to Coconuts freezing Sonic and Tails for a short amount of time during a phone call).
  • In "Best Hedgehog", he caged Lucas (a classmate of Robotnik for the time) in his own dungeon for 30 years as the start of his villainy as a teenager, all because Lucas won Lucinda's heart (a woman who Robotnik wanted to have to himself as an evil wife). To make matters worse, Lucinda favoring Lucas, is what made Robotnik's career of villainy begun while dropping out of school and later in the episode, he also attempted to get Sonic, Tails and Lucas killed in an erupting volcano.
  • In "The Robotnik Express", he creates a train of explosives to reach to his own munitions factory and planned on bombing Mobius with those explosives.
  • In "Too Tall Tails", he interrogated Professor Von Schlemmer by tickle-torturing him into helping him assemble the "Humongo-Gizmo", he then banishes Schlemmer to the Jungle of Doom and attempts using the machine to become the undisputed master of Mobius.
    • Meanwhile, he also tried committing propaganda to anthro weiners by making Tails vilified as a giant who ate some buildings and vilifying Sonic as a deceitful villain, making them seen as threats to Wienerville for Robotnik to make himself seen as a "beloved hero" when he planned to secretly freeze and murder Tails with the "Humongo-Gizmo".
  • In "Tails' New Home", he created two semi-humanoid robots to disguise themselves as "redneck foxes" who claim to be Tails' parents and tried exiling Sonic away from Tails, which he manages to make Sonic fall for the hoax, and he gets the robots to capture and tie up Tails in a empty house for Robotnik to be in. He also created a flattening device as a trap to flatten Sonic with magnetized shoes.
  • In "Over the Hill Hero", he ordered Scratch and Grounder to bombard the Hill Top Village with sneeze bombs, he also manipulates and sweet-talks the out-of-work Captain Rescue to work with him to attack Sonic and Tails, and he managed to trap Sonic in a force field ball while he destroys most of Hill Top Village.
  • In "Blank-Headed Eagle", he orders Grounder to capture the chicken Henrietta and threatens to kill her if Sonic, Tails and brainwashed Scratch didn't give him the remote that controls the robots in Robotnik's lab coat pocket.
  • In "The Mystery of the Missing Hi-tops", he ordered a trio of Buzz Bombers to terrorize Mobius, and he orders Scratch and Grounder to use a Robo-Roller vehicle to attack the town of McGuffin on "Sonic's Appreciation Day".
    • He also keeps a pile of dead robots.
  • In "So Long Sucker", he orders Scratch and Grounder to kidnap Goopster to lure Sonic and Tails into a trap. He also verbally abuses Goopster, which caused him to get enraged and destructive.
  • In "Sonic Gets Thrashed", he opens up a resort called "Robotnik Resort" to make the resident Mobians his slaves, he also attempts to destroy a valley of abandoned robots of his called Scrapy Valley and tried to fire his Hedgehog Harpoon at Sonic to poison him with toxic gas and then attempting to kill him on the top of Robotnik's blimp.
  • In "Pseudo Sonic", he forces a rodent to work as a doppelganger of Sonic and ordered by Robotnik to ruin Sonic's reputation as a hero. Robotnik forces him to do so by holding the poor mouses' parents' hostage in Robotnik's lab room.
  • In "Grounder the Genius", not only does he try creating an intellect chip to enhance his brainpower to become a mastermind who'll take full control of Mobius with wit and cunning, and he ordered Scratch and Grounder to hunt down Hacker the Mole for hacking his chip by terrorizing him.

  • In "Sno Problem", he planned to freeze every citizen on Mobius so he can install "Servitude Chips" wrists onto the frozen citizens and make them unquestionably obedient to him, which he gets Tails to serve Scratch and Grounder.
  • In "Submerged Sonic", he targets and invades the underwater city of Labyrinth to claim its power pearl supply as his own by kidnapping King Saline's daughter and tying her up to a chair as a form of extortion.
  • In "Boogey-Mania", he reprogrammed a dream-reality machine created by Von Schlemmer to unleash a giant brutish bogeyman to terrorize Mobius.
  • In "Musta Been a Beautiful Baby", he attempts to turn Sonic into an old man with his newest device that'll make him elderly and frail, and even though the device turned himself, Sonic and Tails into babies, he planned on killing them as babies by stepping on them. While Robotnik became a baby, he also created several traps for Sonic to be harmed.
  • In "Robotnik Junior", he attempts to use his extendo-tower solar-focusing lens ray to kill Sonic and Tails, and when Scratch and Grounder informs him that he will also incinerate a hundred square miles around Sonic, meaning he also would kill some innocent bystanders, he proclaims it's not a problem, but a bonus.
  • In "Full Tilt Tails", he gets Scratch and Grounder to pull a pile of loot (which they all stole) in a cart while Robotnik is on top of the loot. He also plans to build a whole army of robots to trample the whole state of Mobius into submission and plans to use his Egg-o-Artillery Attack Tank to cause a landslide to fall in a canyon with one little house belonging to two old goats.
    • He had also set up booby-traps in the only entrance to the canyon to slow Sonic down.
  • In "MacHopper", he brainwashed a kangaroo named MacHopper to capture Sonic and Tails.
  • In "Momma Robotnik Returns", he physically abuses Scratch and Grounder for betraying Robotnik over his mother.
  • In "Spaceman Sonic", he sends Scratch and Grounder into space to pillage the asteroid belt and collect destructivity crystals to power his Badniks. He even uses a ray gun built in Grounder to destroy the spacecraft, stating that if Sonic is in the space station, he'll be stranded there even if it costs him his lackeys. He then uses the ray gun on Scratch and Grounder himself, destroying the two (which he intended to make Sonic suffocate in space).
  • In "Mad Mike, Da Bear Warrior", he starves a village of rabbits into building a statue of himself.
  • In "The Last Resort", he lured Sonic an all-expense-paid vacation to an island resort, and he announced himself to give up in villainy; which forced Sonic into retirement, and it's revealed that he settled up the whole thing as a trap for the hedgehog.
  • In "Robotnik's Rival", he and his rival capture Sonic and Tails with D.U.F.U.S. shapeshifting from a bench and turns into a cage. Which he imprisons Sonic and Tails in Robotnik's jail cell.
  • In "The Magic Hassle", he threw Wes Weasely out of the fortress and into a trash pile, and he later got a herd of automatic forklifts to carry all the 6 mobium bills and then gets to work on stealing the 12 Mobium bills, and even after he attempted piles of money, he chases Wes and Coconuts with the bad luck emitter to attempt zapping them and shooting them for the contract Coconuts signed with a a 359 million Mobium fee.
  • In "Sonic the Matchmaker", he dismantled Breezie and Robotnik Jr. by dumping out their heads in a junk yard before building a robo-wife to serve him while he plans to cause a drought and making everyone go hungry so their suffering will then be Robotnik’s wedding present to himself during his honeymoon by creating a waterfall resort called Robotnik Falls.
  • In "Tails Prevails", he captures and impersonates Von Schlemmer to get Tails to build his latest anti-Sonic weapon to get rid of Sonic, and planned on offing Sonic by dropping an anvil on him.
  • In "Attack on Pinball Fortress", he attempts using a "Stupidity Ray" on Mobius to stupefy the intelligence of Mobians and make everyone become too braindead to stop him from conquering Mobius. He also sends a robot to attack Sonic, Sergeant Doberman and Wes Weasley in a castle Robotnik made.
  • In "Mass Transit Trouble", he sabotaged mass transit systems across Mobius with bombs that would kill all present-and theoretically distant enough that Sonic couldn't save everyone.
  • In "Coachnik", he sneaks the long bomb in Grounder's head and sets the time for two minutes for it to blow up Sonic and Tails during a game within a football stadium.
  • In "Untouchable Sonic", he ordered two badniks, Roller and Ball Hog show up and demand money from Bert's Diner (which he also sends Scratch and Grounder to Mobius Corners to threaten Bert Whoo at the chili-dog diner). He then sends badniks to ambush Bert and tie him up and call Robotnik to come with a giant missile launching mobile battle station.
  • In "Super Robotnik", he uses his newfound omnipotent superpowers to flip around the ground of Mobius, freezes Sonic and Tails into a cube before proceeding to throw them both at the frozen wastelands of Mobius, kidnaps all four of the Mobius' World Leaders to keep them trapped (while vandalizing their building), he stole candy from 1 thousand and forty two babies around the world, and he forced Sonic into a gladiator battle with him in order to save them or Sonic will leave Mobius forever if he loses.
    • He also cheated at the games by levitating instead of grabbing the monkey rings, floats and whacks Sonic with an enlarged hand and played baseball to whack Sonic into the air before falling onto the ground.
  • In "Robolympics", he challenged Sonic to compete against him at the Robolympics, where if he wins the most gold medals, he will let the asteroid hit Turtle Town and if Sonic wins the most gold medals, he will stop the asteroid. He also tried killing Sonic during the games by grinding Sonic up and magnetizing him with a device of his, and he still tried getting the asteroid to hit Turtle Town despite losing in the games.
  • In "Magnificent Sonic", he sent a robot bug cowboy named Six Gun Pete to scare everyone in an old western town called Tranquil Gulch, he planned on turning Tranquil Gulch itself into Gambler's Gulch as the biggest casino on Mobius, and he attempted to take over Tranquil Gulch itself with five new cowboy robots he calls his "Despicable Desperados".
  • In the "Quest for the Chaos Emerald" saga, he attempts to steal all four Chaos Emeralds so he can become the Supreme High Robotnik.
    • He roboticized a pirate into being a henchman of his and ordered Scratch and Grounder to kill Sonic and Tails with a cannon in "Black Bot the Pirate".
    • He invades King Arfur's castle and the Knights of the Round Table to collect the Emerald of Invincibility, and forced a local wizard Merlynx, to obtain the Emerald and takes over the kingdom in "Hedgehog of the 'Hound' Table".
    • He erased Sonic's family tree in order to get the Chaos Emerald of Immortality and forced Sonic and Tails to be slaves of his while gaining the title as a king in "Robotnik's Pyramid Scheme".
    • Finally, in "Prehistoric Sonic", he becomes powerful, got giant enough to terrorize Mobius and vandalize everything around him, yet he also sent Sonic and Tails to the big bang to be blown up, meanwhile he uses his newfound powers to make Mobians bow for him and see him as a "Messiah" before Sonic and Tails come back to defeat him.
  • In "Baby-Sitter Jitters", he planned to blow up the dam to flood Beaverville and turn it in his own golf and fishing estate. He even exploited the kid beavers to use as bait for Sonic to fall for his hologram trap that traps Sonic and Tails in a vent.
  • In "Honey, I Shrunk the Hedgehog", he gets Sonic, Tails, and a group of miners to become tiny and become slaves of Robotnik. He even planned to use Sonic and Tails as "pet food" and planned on swatting them both like bugs.
  • In "Robotnikland", he lured Sonic into a amusement park called Robotnikland (which was disguised as Sonic Land before Robotnik revealed to have trapped Sonic in the park). He also intended to kill several Mobians in a roller coaster that led them to their doom, tortured Sonic with a giant pinball machine and attempted blowing up Sonic and friends with giant stales of dynamite in a fake big birthday cake.
  • In "The Mobius 5000", he threatened to shut down an orphanage that a car race is supporting and ordered robotic cars to stop Sonic and friends from winning the race.
  • In "The Little Merhog", he also used his malefic tv to play golf and get his golf ball to shoot through his television and destroy a ship of torpedoes on a rock formation from Captain John Paul Memo's ship, which caused it to malfunction underwater (somehow) and nearly drown.
  • In "Road Hog", he creates a blimp that will spread the pollen to the whole planet of Mobius and to convince everyone that Robotnik is their ruler. He even turns Sonic into a slow-minded useless person.
  • In "The Robots' Robot", he created The Super Planetary Implosion Machine (SPIM) which he used to implode the entire city of Jumbo Canyon.
  • In "Tails' Tale", he and King Kommamachs made a deal to keep Sonic trapped in Kommamachs' temple, which is later revealed that he also paid him with counterfeit money. This also had Sonic chained up in a cage.
  • In "Hero of the Year", he forced Sonic into a trap and caged all of his friends aboard a sinking yacht, leaving them to be drowned while he and his henchmen celebrate their villainous acts in the past.
  • In "Fast and Easy", he plans to obtain the most powerful Chaos Emerald with a ring to place it in an activation altar in the Special Zone, in order to have the power to sink entire countries of the planet Mobius into the sea. He also sends Scratch and Grounder to capture Easy Eddie over the ring.
  • In "Lifestyles of The Sick and Twisted", upon getting rejected to be featured on a show and becoming popular over Sonic getting the nomination; Robotnik gets angered, then resorts to kidnapping and chaining Throbbin Screech's niece over a pit of lava for not allowing Robotnik to be on live television.
    • Once he got the chance, he then attempts to capture Tails on live television with Throbbin there to watch Robotnik poach Tails upon Robotnik announcing his plans to Mobius, once Robotnik has Tails and Throbbin's niece in Robotnik's possession, Sonic tried to make a fair deal to free the two if Sonic gives himself up to Robotnik in cuffs; Robotnik then double-crosses him and has him chained over a pit of lava with Tails and Throbbin's niece.
  • In "Sonic is Running", he bribes Wes Weasley into being his campaign manager, created a television advertisement that hypnotizes the townsfolk with "Hypnovision" to make people lash out at anyone who speaks ill of Robotnik, and created several propaganda tapes during a political debate against Henry Walrus.
  • In "Robo-Ninjas", he captured a master of martial arts to turn Scratch and Grounder into better fighters and creating several Robo-Ninjas to stop Sonic from saving the sensi.
  • In "Sonically Ever After", he created a ray gun to transport Sonic into a world of fairy tales, attempted cooking Sonic and Tails, he also poisoned Tails with a toxic chili dog, he used a magic wand to summon a dragon to barbecue Sonic, turns Mobius into his own city, and sent a giant beatnik to crush Sonic.
  • In the 1996 Christmas special "Sonic's Christmas Blast", it's somewhat shown that he conquered Mobius and announced to Mobius with replacing Santa Claus by having the real Santa imprisoned with several Swat Bots keeping him guarded before Sonic comes in and frees Santa from his cell.

Trivia[]

  • This incarnation of Robotnik has become the center of a slew of internet memes. One such meme is PINGAS, derived from his line: "Snooping as usual, I see?" from the episode ''Boogie Mania'' What makes it so popular is because of the emphasis Robotnik puts on "PING" in "Snooping" and "AS", putting them together as "PINGAS", which sounds like a male body part. It first was used in the video called "Robotnik has a viagra overdose" in 2007 but it didn't go viral until the video "THIS VIDEO CONTAINS WIN" in 2008.
    • His Archie Comics and Sonic Boom counterparts have also referenced the line; however, the Sonic Boom version does not place as much emphasis in the "ping as" part.
    • Additionally, he has three more famous quotes such as ''SILENCE!'' (most famous one said in ''Lovesick Sonic''), and ''NO!'' in the said episode, Including "I'll have to give myself a pomotion!" from ''Tails' New Home'', and his catchphrase "I hate that hedgehog!" has been said by other incarnations of him, such as his SATAM, Archie, and Boom counterparts. In the novelization of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film, Robotnik also says "I! HATE! THAT! HEDGEHOG!". In the said novelization, Sonic also called him ''Robuttnik'' which is one of the hedgehog's most famous insults to Robotnik starting from this television show.
    • And him notable for rolling the Rs in his lines was referenced by his aforementioned live-action film counterpart at the beginning of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film in the scene where he is playing chess and second in the scene where he reunites with Agent Stone.
  • This incarnations appearance would notably become a slight basis for his SatAM counterpart, and the latter is also seen as an upgraded and more tyrannical version of the former.
  • The reason why he has black eyes is likely because this version was loosely based off his video game counterparts appearance on the original Sonic the Hedgehog games artwork outside of Asia where his usual blue glasses are depicted as empty black eyes. Just like the latter, this was all probably done to make the character sinister looking.
    • This incarnation of him also loosely resembles his appearance seen on the American and European Sonic the Hedgehog 2 cover for having orange facial hair and black eyes (though save for the fact that the latter's eyes lack irises). The latter may also very well have loosely inspired this design of the former.
    • Back in the 1990's, Western Sonic media such as mainly the United States and the United Kingdom used the appearance where the doctor has completely black eyes or use the one from this cartoon, or otherwise use the one from Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM.
    • This design was also used on some western covers of classic Sonic games like: Sonic Spinball (8-bit), and Sonic Triple Trouble (the irises on the latter are depicted as white instead of red).
    • In the early storyboards for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (film), as opposed to wearing an overcoat in the final film, he is seen wearing a bodysuit resembling his one from this incarnation for having a belt going around his waist with a circular buckle in the center, and a line up to his collar, hinting it was a concept design for the film in some form. Not only just that, in the second film Robotnik gained visible dark circles around his eyes which may be a partial nod to the ones of this incarnation.
    • Fun fact, his later live action film counterpart's theme is almost a bit similar to the one of this incarnation.
    • While western designs of Dr. Robotnik throughout the 1990's are heavily ignored by Japanese Sonic products, in the gameplay, and more notably an early screenshot of a deleted cutscene of Sonic Spinball, he is depicted wearing a bodysuit that appears to be based off his one from this show. And similarly, the doctor's in-game sprite during the final battle of the 8-bit version of Spinball also resembles this depiction.
    • His original Japanese design interestingly wearing his AoStH attire (save for wearing his white gloves instead of the gray gauntlets) appears in an official Puyo Puyo calendar (see here), in reference to the Mean Bean Machine.
    • His design, done by an American cartoonist/animator Milton Knight, who was also the storyboard artist of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, would later be a complete basis for his counterpart in the Fleetway comics, from starting off having his classic (Western) games artworks design to regenerating himself from an egg in issue 21 and 22, into a new body which would become his AoStH design. This change was permanent. However before all of that, he was still occasionally wearing his AoStH bodysuit combined with his classic games design (for example the red top having his short yellow cape) attached to his shoulders by the triangular collar. The design was also used for his Sirène counterpart, the Troll Associates, and LadyBird books. This incarnation was also used in the 1996 educational game Sonic's Schoolhouse.
      • Speaking of which, for the concept art of how he looks and behaves, Milton Knight described bits of his character, in and out of his interview such as "the perfect image of self-love" and in the concept art, it states "Robotnik is not a straight villain. He is the object of ridicule." which can also be seen here.
      • Milton Knight was pushing the animators to make this take on Robotnik to be "animation's sexiest fat man" by exaggerating his body size to make him seem luscious like putting on revealing clothing and increasing the size of his buttocks for a shot, the most infamous examples of these include him being put in a purple bikini as seen in "Hero of the Year", and slowly twerking while he was playing the organs as seen in "Sonic Song". This was taken to the point where he was sometimes given random outfits (or polka-dotted underwear) to fit the show's tone with being campy and full of humorous absurdity (and this became infamous for being the source of the internet joke with making Dr. Eggman not so sexy as intended as seen in the Sonic Paradox or SMG4 videos, considering that it's an ugly obese man put into revealing clothing that can be considered rather provocative for a cartoon aimed at younger audiences).
  • This is the first incarnation of Dr. Robotnik/Eggman to have a foreign accent, he was given an upper-class British accent as being voiced by Long John Baldry, a British actor.
  • When Baldry also voiced other characters from other shows like Komplex and many more, surprising to fans sounding identical to Baldry's Robotnik.
  • Jim Cummings (who would play his next SatAM portrayal) used a Peg Leg Pete styled voice in the pilot, while using a more sinister tone in Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM.
  • This incarnation of Dr. Robotnik is also the only one to get his own video game officially released by the company itself, Sega under the name ''Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine'' (which is a westernized version of Puyo Puyo (1991) released for the Sega Genesis in 1993 (a month after the show's release). The game was also well received and was also re-released in later platforms and made a huge reference in Sonic Mania for the final boss battle of Chemical Plant zone.
    • According to Van Robichaux, the original script of the Sonic the Hedgehog film released in 2020, had Dr. Robotnik owning a coffee machine which he refers to as the "Mean Bean Machine" referencing the said game, and subsequently using it to make coffee.
      • While that was scrapped, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is later referenced in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (film) in the form of the Mean Bean Coffee Café, which is owned by Agent Stone as a front for a secret, high-tech lair.
  • The amusement park: Sega World Sydney used this design of Robotnik for their mascot of him, including merchandise and the Sonic in Sydney live and puppet shows.
    • His voice actor Adrian Payne in the stage show, was apparently doing an impression to Baldry's voice acting of the character with the upper-class British accent and speaking style such as rolling the Rs.
    • He was even in love with Sally Acorn, who wanted nothing to do with him, similar to his former crush Lucinda's refusal to being his girlfriend in ''Best Hedgehog''.
    • It can also be presumed that his two sidekicks are Scratch and Grounder as he calls them his "two incompetent cronies" and abuses them, much like in the cartoon.
  • Near the end of the pilot episode, Robotnik is shown chasing Sonic in his Egg-O-Matic attached to a giant checkered chained wrecking ball in a location that appears to be Green Hill Zone which is a huge game reference to the famous first boss battle in Sonic the Hedgehog (1991).
  • Super Robotnik is obviously a parody of the DC Comics superhero Superman, and even has the same powers as Superman himself.
  • Whenever his mustache usually gets ripped off (e.g "Momma Robotnik Returns" and "Untouchable Sonic"), he has several bits of stubble on his face, and his frontal bones seems to be bulging since he has no eyebrows, as well as having (almost) non-visible ears, making his head look like a crooked human nose, a comma, or a bloated bent cone when you see it without (or with) his mustache on, and the back of his head is pretty conical.
    • This is better seen in the shows' intro, as Sonic is always seen ripping his long stache off his face to write "The Hedgehog" in the air after Sonic drops a giant dynamite onto him that says "SONIC".
    • In fact, it's also proven in this early concept art for AoStH Robotnik before the show ever aired, that his head starts with a "mouldy cone" before adding the nose, eyes and mustache to his face.
    • It doesn't help that there were many viewers in the future that have noticed his head being a bit pointy, and sometimes compared his head/neck design to stuff like Patrick Star's head for a joke (i.e PsychoPieO's "AOSTH exposed video").
    • It's possible that his design was inspired by Wally Walrus from the Woody Woodpecker show (1957), due to being similar in appearance for his conical head, long moustache and fat body.
    • And when his moustache is removed, his head's design looks similar to Wallace from Wallace and Gromit.
  • How Robotnik became Super Robotnik could be a reference to The Joker's origin story, as both fell into a tub of chemicals to become the very evildoers they are today.
  • This is the first televised version of Robotnik to be referred to as Eggman in western regions, and the second version overall (the first being his counterpart from the Archie comics).
    • Robotnik himself loves eggs, omelettes and has made many egg-oriented puns throughout the show. Which is a cute nod for the fact his canon counterpart's name in Japanese was "Eggman" where in the US, he used to be called "Robotnik".
    • Tails referred him as "Eggman" once at the end of Lifestyles of the Sick and Twisted.
  • He is a bit similar to Baron Silas Greenback/Terrible Toad from Danger Mouse, as both are evil geniuses, are overweight, have British accents (the latter is a British show itself), have two dimwitted minions and abuses and insults them, are rude people but can come off as polite on occasions, and dream of conquering the world.
  • While his mother appears, the identity of his biological father is unknown. He never appeared nor was mentioned in the show, likely meaning the latter is either deceased or away from the Robotnik family.
  • Comically in ''Zoobotnik'' when Momma Robotnik angrily enters Katella's ship during their wedding which recently ended since she couldn't stand Robotnik's mother much to the pleasure of Robotnik, he looked less obese and had a very thin neck when seeing his mother and Katella fight in fear.
  • This version of Dr. Robotnik is the only version of Robotnik that is seen wearing multiple outfits (sometimes revealing what's underneath his bodysuit like his bulging feet or belly) in several episodes before his Boom counterpart ever did:
    • He is seen wearing a light-dark purple robe with a fez in "Lovesick Sonic" and "Robotnikland".
      • The former has him change clothes in front of Scratch and Grounder, Robotnik is seen strapping on a white corset belt that goes up to his chest while having blue polka dot boxers on before wearing his pilot suit.
    • He is seen wearing red and white pajamas in the episode "The Robot's Robot"; which kinda references the concept art design of the real Dr. Robotnik while SEGA was creating their mascot to rival Nintendo's Mario).
    • He is seen wearing a green sweater and comfy grey pants in "The Last Resort". Not to mention that he also has a tattoo of a heart with a bow in it that says "LOVE".
    • In "Robolympics", he is eventually seen wearing a tan shirt with a big red R on it that barely fits him (seems familiar?), sporting with blue shorts and blue shoes.
    • In the Christmas special "Sonic's Christmas Blast", he was seen wearing a Santa Claus outfit that reveals his hairy belly sticking out. And at the end of the movie, after Sonic takes back what Robotnik took from town, all he has is his heart boxers like the many boxers he's been seen wearing; all of which was always played for laughs.
      • It doesn't help that in the episode "Full Tilt Tails", Robotnik mentions that he's already been compared to Santa Claus.
    • He is eventually seen having a captain's outfit in "Black Bot the Pirate".
    • In "Attack on the Pinball Fortress", while he was using his stupidity ray; he was temporarily seen shirtless with a bandolier on top, a bandage on his head, sporting with green M-1965 military pants and brown pointy boots that parodies Rambo played by Sylvester Stallone.
    • He at one point, changes into a major general uniform in "The Little Merhog", "Submerged Sonic", and "Blank-Headed Eagle"; the latter had him seen with a tight belt to attempt sucking in the fat from his belly, a moment that was played for laughs.
    • In "Lifestyles of the Sick and Twisted", before he goes to Throbbin's show, he is seen wearing a fancy grey business suit with shoulder pads, a red bow tie, a green swirly circle on his suit, and uses a fake orange wig, as well as making his orange stache a little shorter and neater for a brief amount of time and not changing out of his usual bodysuit, as a shameless attempt to make himself look professional on live television.
    • The uniform Robotnik wears in ''Lovesick Sonic'' resembles a Nazi uniform. Breezie wears a similar outfit in a later scene.
    • In "Honey, I Shrunk the Hedgehog", Scratch (while having his mind controlled by Sonic), takes off Robotnik's left glove to inflate it and punches Robotnik in the face, to then put the glove onto his cranium, blocking his eyesight and having difficulty taking it off his head. As he has a white glove underneath it despite those moments also shows what his real hands look like. Which can be seen as a cute nod to his classic game design's white gloves.
  • Some DVD covers of AoStH depict Robotnik in his SatAM design.
  • A preproduction page of AoStH implies that the latter was meant to be a form of a prequel to SatAM,[1] but if this was true, it would be rather ambiguous as to how Robotnik suddenly conquered Mobius and changed from being extremely incompetent and silly to more serious and unsettling. Had this been kept in the final version, this version of the doctor would have been qualified as Pure Evil.
  • While this design of Robotnik hasn't been used in the Archie Comics, some of his characteristics from the former seem to have been added to his Archie counterpart, where he would occasionally take part in humorous plots, inheriting some "laughable" traits (as evidenced in the creation of Scratch and Grounder), and was depicted as a bumbling and oftentimes incompetent villain, before gradually becoming more sinister and depraved as the series continued. He even had his lackeys from this show: Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts.
