Daffy is the youngest of the New Batch of Gremlins and one of the titular major antagonists (alongside Lenny and George) in the 1990 film Gremlins 2: The New Batch. He is an insane and a completely nutty gremlin, even more so than any other member of his species. He is easily recognized thanks to his his large, round eyes, which whirl constantly in a chaotic manner. He is very hyperactive and is constantly laughing hysterically at everything around him.
He was voiced by the late Mark Dodson, who also voiced George, Lenny and Greta in the same film as well as Salacious B. Crumb in Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.
Appearance[]
As a mogwai, Daffy was rather chubby, his fur was quite patchy; being mostly orange and brown with a white belly and beard, he also had a loopy tuft of fur atop his head. His most recognizable features are his massive orange eyes, which constantly swirl and spin around.
His gremlin self is a lighter shade of green than most gremlins, and retained a few thick yellow strands of "hair" that hang limply in the manner of the original incarnation of Daffy Duck from his Mogwai self.
Biography[]
As a Mogwai[]
He first appears when Gizmo got wet and is seen bouncing around until he hits a wall and uncurls, immediately beginning his crazy antics by throwing paint everywhere. He is taken back to Billy Peltzer and Kate Beringer's apartment, when Kate mistakes him for Gizmo (Daffy was the only one of the new batch who had color scheme similar to Gizmo, as the new batch were black and white as opposed to brown and white), Daffy causes a mess in the apartment, where Kate feeds him before midnight (remembering the most important rule), where Daffy was served mashed potatoes, a chicken leg, and corn. He liked to play with his food more than eating it, throwing most of the food on his plate at Kate. He is taken back to the Clamp Center by Billy while he tries to find the others before they feed, but he attacks a security guard and escapes (apparently eating the blood of the security guard after midnight or found some food later on).
As a Gremlin[]
He later reappears in a cooking show, now a Gremlin, and sits in a boiling pot of noodles while George and Lenny blow up a microwave, setting off a sprinkler system and spawning more Gremlins. He appears briefly dressed as a repairman messing about with the controls for an elevator which actually saved Kate from a bunch of Gremlins in the elevator. After not showing up for a while Daffy knocks out Billy who is in search for Gizmo, straps him to a chair and attempts to drill and pull his teeth out using dentistry equipment. Murray Futterman comes to Billy's rescue by fending off Daffy with a dentist light.
Daffy appears for one last time in the lobby with most of the other Gremlins, seen wearing Groucho glasses (fake nose and sunglasses) on the right hand side of the Brain Gremlin.
Daffy is killed by the Electric Gremlin along with the others, although his death is only seen in a deleted scene where he dies laughing as the complete wacko he is.
Personality[]
Daffy was utterly insane even more so than his fellow Gremlins, being totally out of his mind and finding almost everything around him hilarious. He had a very wild and dark sense of humour and took glee in not only the pain of others but also his own as evident from how he still kept laughing even while in total agony from getting wet and having to forcefully multiply or even when he was melting to his death. His easy amusement also had the added effect of making him very creative and resilient as shown from his dentist themed attack on Billy as well as from how he hid in a pot of boiling noodles to spook Marge without any ill effect on him, perhaps suggesting that Daffy is smarter than he looks in spite of his craziness. Another one of Daffy's defining traits would be how hyperactive he is, seemingly having an endless amount of energy.
In spite of this however Daffy had some unique qualities that made him arguably less sinister than most of the other gremlins. For starters he did seem to be genuinely quite friendly as shown from how he greets Kate with a wave and giggle when she mistakes him for Gizmo and even while annoying her by making a mess in her and Billy's apartment he did so while also trying to tell her that he wasn't Gizmo and that she brought home the wrong Mogwai. In relation to this for some reason Daffy didn't hate Gizmo unlike the other three members of the new batch.

- His name and crazy behavior is a reference to the famous Looney Tunes character Daffy Duck, who also made an appearance in the movie as well.
- He is the only Mogwai who can control himself bouncing around when immediately born.
- Unlike Mohawk, George, and Lenny, Daffy does not antagonize Gizmo after being spawned from him.
- Daffy is probably one of the more friendly Gremlins/Mogwai aside from Gizmo and the Brain Gremlin, albeit still very dangerous.
