The predator creature is the secondary antagonist in the science fiction movie Enemy Mine. It is a large, yet unnamed predatory species native to planet Fyrine IV. It is an ambush predator, hiding itself in the underground at the bottom of a sand pit trap, in a way similar to Earth's antlions. When another being falls in its trap, the predator's long tentacle-like tongue emerges from the soil to grab the poor victim. During the winter, when there is less food available, the predator will start to hunt actively, moving in the underground and surfacing suddenly to catch a sleeping prey. This creature has blue-colored blood. It is possible that it evolved a mainly fossorial lifestyle as a way of protecting itself from the violent meteorite storms that are so common on Fyrine IV.
