Akudaikan is the central antagonist of the anime series Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star.
He is the evil ruler of Dark Fall who wants to take over the World Tree, and has managed to capture six of the seven fountains that irrigate it. He has sent out minions to search for the location of the last of these fountains, the Fountain of Sun. He appears as a shadow-covered, towering-robed demon-alike being with a pair of glowing red eyes that shine out of the cave in which he lives.
It is later revealed that Akudaikan is actually not the true creator of Dark Fall; he was just a creation of his own "aide", Goyan.
He was voiced by Takayuki Godai.
Appearance[]
Akudaikan is a black and large demonic being that towers almost every other characters in the show, has glowing yellow eyes, and wears a samurai-like helmet.
Personality[]
Akudaikan is a cruel being who doesn't tolerate failure. He is extremely ruthless and always scolds his minions if they fail him, even threatening to destroy them. He also banishes Michiru and Naoru just because they refuse to destroy the Cures and just wants freedom. On the other hand, Akudaikan is a honorable warrior and won't go down without a fight. The reveal that Goyan has used him all along greatly shocks him, and he dies proclaiming that he is eternal.
Biography[]
Akudaikan was created by Goyan as a figurehead for Dark Fall. However, it seems that Akudaikan wasn't aware of this and believed that he was its creator and ruler, and Goyan was nothing more than a cohort of his. Akudaikan ruled Dark Fall with an iron fist, with any failure being unacceptable to him.
Akudaikan would then lead the Dark Fall search for the Fountain of Sun hidden in the Land of Fountains. Because of this, Saki Hyuuga and Mai Mishou are transformed into Cure Bloom and Cure Egret to stop them. Through almost the whole series Akudaikan sends out the other villains to capture to find out the Fountain of Sun and capture Flappy and Choppy. He threatens to destroy his servants on multiple occasions and banishes the Kiryuu sisters when they refuse to destroy Pretty Cure and beg for their freedom.
In episode 47, the Cures go back to Dark Fall to confront Akudaikan and defeat him. It is at this point that Goyan appears and tells him to stop or else Dark Fall will collapse. When Akudaikan won't listen, Goyan kills him by extinguishing his flame of life and reveals that he was the one who has created Akudaikan and the one behind Dark Fall.

- Akudaikan is similar in nature to the Dark King of the previous two seasons.
- Akudaikan is the first main villain in the Pretty Cure series to be part of "the man behind the curtain" cliche as a front for the real villain Goyan who's true nature is not revealed until the last few episodes.
- His name comes from two words, "aku (evil)" and "daikan (a local administrator of Tokugawa shogunate)", the latter of which foreshadows his true role as Goyan's pawn.
